For Fac 51’s yearly Mancunian Christmas homecoming do, The Haçienda returns to Sankeys for a very special party with some of the original Haçienda’s DJ’s and guests come together in a celebration of the finest new music and the very best Hacienda classics . Haç legend and garage pioneer, Graeme Park headlines proceedings and is joined by his sparring partner in house, Allister Whitehead who for a time was a resident at The Hacienda in the early 90’s. Peter Hook, bass-player, author and DJ brings his personal selection of modern dance, remixes and exclusive bootlegs to the event while breakthrough Manchester dance act, K Klass round off the bill as DJs along with John McCready and Herbie Saccani.

Headliner and Hacienda icon Graeme Park commented about the Hacienda Sankeys do’s....

“Hacienda nights at Sankeys are always special and are probably as close as you'll get to actually being at The Hac. Firstly because it's in Manchester and secondly because loads of people who used to go to The Hac are there too. The atmosphere is always incredible as the seasoned regulars squeeze onto the dancefloor alongside those who wish they could have visited the original superclub.”

“I get to spin a real variety of tunes from my eight years at the club along with a few surprises and hidden gems too. I missed the Easter special, so I'm beside myself with excitement at the thought of this. After all, The Hacienda was the greatest club there ever was and this is the best way to get a taste of what it was like or to refresh your memory for the older crowd. And it's Christmas too! Lord help us all...”

Went to the Xmas '09 one, it was rather good... but I daresay Chester '11 was better, they made the place look more like the Hac and it was up there with the best nights of my life.

I think they should hold a huge party outside the actual Hacienda Block Of Apartments that currently stands on the hallowed site and have a great big fuck-off 1000 megawatt soundsystem to boot.

Then bring along some huge demolition balls and a crowd of thousands and party till the small hours whilst that godawful blot on the landscape is reduced to rubble for having had the utter temerity to replace the original building in such sacrilegious fashion.

I've never seen such a fucking ugly building. But then Manchester seems to be getting more and more full of these sort of fucking abominations in recent years hasn't it? It's losing its soul big time.

GRAEME PARK HACIENDA MIX

I was asked by The Haçienda and Sankeys to do a mix ahead of The Haçienda Christmas Party at Sankeys in Manchester on 28th December.

Rather than stick religiously to to tunes that I used to play at The Haçienda, I thought I'd include a few recent tracks too that wouldn't have sounded out of place at The Haçienda. There's also a couple of remixes from my new Yellow & Black Project which you'll be hearing more from soon as well as the brand new Inner City tune. I also decided to drop a pill before creating this mix to try and make it as authentic as possible (no I didn't... I totally made that bit up).

As always, this is a live one-take mix recorded using vinyl and Serato (with vinyl discs) and with a few Korg KAOS pad effects played over the top. I hope you enjoy this mix which I think captures the spirit of The Haçienda and I look forward to seeing you at The Haçienda Christmas Party at Sankeys in Manchester on 28th December.

If I'd have been there 15-20 years ago I'd probably agree but at the age of 10 I couldn't get in.

Keep it coming
