Anyone know what time New Order are likely to take the stage? Due to babysitting issues we are unlikely to be there before 5:30 ish.
Also, anyone know what Bombay Bicycle Club are like? Any good?

Bombay Bicycle Club are on the bill as well? Not particularly interested in seeing them, heard one or two of their tunes , can't remember if i was impressed or not really.Can't imagine i'll be that arsed about seein them at Hyde Park
Found this thread on a Specials forum. Apparently New Order were interviewed in Sunday Times culture magazine the other week and were asked how they felt about being third on the bill. So i'd hazard a guess on them playing 5pm ish til 6.30 ish? maybe. Before The Specials anyway it seems. Always thought that would be the case as like it or not The Specials are probably viewed as a bigger draw than New Order.
5pm til 6.30pm New Order ???
7pm til 8.30pm Specials ???
9pm til 11pm Blur ???

did anyone pick up on the bruce springsteen gig last week having the pug pulled at 10,38pm,as curfew is 10,30pm, so unless there's a dispensation for an 11,30 finish, anyones guess as to the time. all to do with the natives not liking the noise etc. same borough, I think, as albert and festival halls, to which gigs there have to over and done by 10,30, but sure to be corrected on this point.
Yes I read about the Springsteen gig too. But then on the BT London Live site it says the Olympic Closing Concert with Blur / New Order / Specials is due to finish at 12:30 midnight. So a special license for this one?

Heard that the opening ceremony gig in Hyde park has a 1am licence . So if the same for closing ceremony gig Blur will be on pretty late. I'll prob have to give them a miss then which is no great loss . Don't want to get stranded in Hyde Park just for the twat Albarn

What time does the whole thing finish though? Seriously doubt i'll be able to stick around for Blur if they're on til past midnight. Got a train to catch. As i said before i'm not going to get stranded in London just for that twat Albarn
Apparently it's supposed to finish at half twelve. Doubt I'll stick around until then, I only bought a ticket to see New Order, not particularly arsed about either The Specials or Blur regardless of what they show on the screens from Stratford, staying until the end will probably cost me best part of £30 to get a black cab after I've caught a train from Victoria at God knows what time, and the thought of dragging myself out of bed the next day isn't giving me cause for excitement.

I'm on the 00:50 train to manchester (via sheffield) gets in at 04:15, but thats ok, as it connects with the first metrolink home, saving me a £20 taxi ride...
i get in london at 15:00, so pre show cocktails in sam smiths the glasshouse stores, brewer street, then panic taxi about 5pm to the gig.

That was the The Audley and yeah, it's right next to the park.
Yeah, that's a 5 min walk from the Hyde Park entrance so dead convenient. Expect there will be folk drinking in there from here before hand.
As Jert has mentioned there's another juicer just off Edgeware Rd that is favoured by some. Dunno why though cos it's a bit of a walk through to the entrance from there, good 20 mins. Apparently it's near a kebab shop if that sells it to you.

No food will be permitted into BT London Live, with the exceprion of baby food. Liquids, aerosols and gels will only be permitted in vessels, no larger than 100ml. Customers are strongly advised to visit our 'Useful Info' section to familiarise themselves with the event policies.
In addition to the above, the following items are also not permitted into the site:
- Tables, barbeques, prima-stoves etc.
- Alcohol
- Glass or cans
- Food hampers, cool boxes/bags
Medication and sunscreen will be permitted in vessels up to 200ml.

It's nearer to a tube station. You have to walk 20mins from anywhere to get to the Audley.

Someone needs to check where the entry is! Or if there's more than one. Last time I was there, there was one entry at the HP Corner end. If its the Marble Arch end then they're both about 10 mins walk away and it doesn't really matter.

The Specials are a nostalgia act. At least NO have released, and perform, material post 2000.
not being cynical, but if by fact the concert will not finish until midnightish, is it not in the promoters best interest to convince everyone to get in early so that they can fleece the punters with over priced ale and such like all day long.

The source of NOs stage time I posted earlier, came direct from the band. They're on at 5.45. I dont know what time they finish or how reliable the source of The Specials time is.
New Order are on at 17:45, Blur are due to finish at 23:15, according to this anyway : BT London Live
Don't know if the finishing at 00:30 is supposed to be the time everyone has to leave Hyde Park by, or if it means thats when the thing at the Olympic stadium is supposed to finish, I won't be hanging round if it means watching the Spice Girls on a screen.

Left after Love Will Tear Us Apart, I thought the whole thing was a shambles. Got there and and no one seemed to have any idea of what was going on, screens were saying there was a 30 minutes wait time to get in which is bad enough, but it turned out to be close to an hour before I got in in, missing the first ten minutes of the set - if I could have heard New Order playing when they got on stage while waiting I might have tolerated it, but no, they were playing sodding Squeeze and Elvis Costello over the speakers while I could see Bernard in the distance.
The queues at the bars were even worse, bad enough being charged £5 for a pint of Heineken without the every man for himself attitude and the five deep queues that ensued, after deciding I wasn't that bothered about a drink, it was next to impossible to get anywhere near a decent viewing point, having had an untold amount of wankers bumping into me while they pushed through without as much as an excuse me made me decide I didn't really give a shit about either The Specials or Blur and decided to leave the plebs at large to it and go for a drink in Mayfair. The actual set itself was good, nothing wrong with the sound or the performance, it was just everything else about the show that has made me decide not to see anything else at somewhere like Hyde Park again.

My feelings exactly on every point mate. Utter shambles. Worst gig i've ever been to as far as facilities are concerned. You mention Elvis Costello playing while you was in the queue, when we were queueing they did actually pump the NO set over at first doing Elegia then the start of Crystal but then stopped it and changed to Elvis Costello songs!! WTF?
New Order were good from what i saw when we finally got in but went to get a beer after that but it was just horrendous. Gave up queueing as it would have taken hours to get a drink and went for a lie down while The Specials were on but after them i'd had enough and left. Never witnessed such a shambles in all my life. Never going to a gig in Hyde Park again

As has been said already by Ken & Johnny - music great (I actually like Blur a fair bit, so wanted to stay for their set), however...
Queues for toilets/beer/food were horrendous - after a couple of hours of that (i.e. after The Specials had finished), decided to leave the festival and go back to the Canterbury Arms for a pint or two.
Now, all I have to do is to hope that Blur do some more gigs (non-festivals) at some point in the future (unlikely, and yeah, I know, they've just finished a small venues tour)... 💀

It's a shame because from what I saw of New Order's performance was really good, much better and livelier than Belgium two days earlier.
We left a couple of songs into Blur, I'd just had enough of the place.
Stinking attitude by some of the audience when it came to shoving people... that "Team GB spirit" in action... wankers.

New Order need to drop Elegia when opening at gigs that "aren't theirs". Talk about a killjoy of a song. Puts the audience on the backfoot from the off. Thought it was a mistake in Belgium after seeing Royksopp take the gig by the scruff of the neck, but opening with it at Hyde Park - and then dropping Regret - just seemed like suicide. Compare that to the Specials opening with Do The Dog and Blur opening with Boys and Girls - they had the audience in the palm of their hand right from the start. Just my two'penneth.

Tend to agree, Elegia works fine in a small venue environment but was kind of lost in a stadium-sized place like Hyde. Very surprised when I realised that Regret had been dropped, being one of their best-known singles and all. I would have done a Reading '98, gone straight into Regret then quickly followed up with Crystal. The band definitely played really well though and better than Belgium where Barney seemed to have a right cob on. Everyone around me was singing every word to LWTUA towards the end. I'm seriously considering doing Wales now 'cos I don't want my last UK gig - in case they go back into hibernation in 2013 - to be Hyde bloody Park.
Not the band's fault the organisers fucked it all up; they did the music proud in the end.

I think, Elegia worked very well at this sport related gig. A relaxed Elegia at the start and an explosion with the first beats of crystal. It is as if the sprinters are leaving in the 100 meter run the starting blocks or the basketball game begins with a jump ball. Absolutely amazing!
The infrastructure (Bar, Food, toilets) were very poor for a crowd of 55.000 people. But the gigs were brilliant.
agree with the post gig reviews, barring not getting in until the end of Chrystal, so can not comment on Elegia. pennies worth being Belgium would have been a cheaper trip and by all accounts more fan friendly. hey ho, live and learn.

I use Ask & Record toolbar, which is great for audio (basically records whatever noise the pc makes at the time), but of late it doesn't record any videos anymore 😕 anyway, quality is way below Dime standards.
put it through Audacity to improve it a bit, this is the best I could do Hyde Park highlights

I also recorded the Absolute Radio stream onto a WAV file last night and converted it into individual FLACs & MP3s. Gave it a spin on my iPod to work this morning and it's not bad audio but there's a bit of a loudness peak in Blue Monday which means after normalising the rest of the show is a little quiet. Might see if £50 Note or Analogue Loyalist are interested in mastering it properly. The actual performance is great so with the right tweaking plus a bit more bass it would be a great addition to the bootleg collection. Isolation sounds superb.
Blur are releasing their Hyde Park set in 3/5 disc deluxe versions (it's already out on iTunes).
