Just got my tickets for my first NO concert. I know they don't play for very long but am VERY excited.
Anyone going know of a good New Wave club to keep the party going after Barney and Co. clear the stage?
Thanks,
Mike C.

hmmm...last time I checked, we only did New wave on Sundays...but that might have changed....
I went back tonight to see if I could pick up a ticket for a friend, and wouldn't you know it...sold out...
damn touts...
ahem...Mr. Giles...if you see this...I forgot that there is a decent boozer about a mile away from the venue...well...decent if you don't mind a dive bar...otherwise we can do up a place in Deep Ellum and then take the train for a bit...
the good thing about the dive bar is, it actually opens at 11....the rest of the places I'm looking at don't open until 4...and as I pointed out...this is Texas-OU weekend...meaning there will be a shit load of drunken college football fans wandering the streets...
anywho...everyone chime in...
Lee Harvey's (yes, the dive bar is named after the alleged JFK assassin) or Anvil Pub (Deep Ellum establishment) or any other suggestions....

sounds good. Maybe we will have a proper fight then.![]()
Strangeways on Fitzhugh plays a lot of new wave (playlist can be Smiths heavy at times) and they have a great beer selection and full bar. About 4 miles from Palladium.
Oh, and, can't wait for this concert. As OP, my first NO show.
Just adding that Strangeways is more of a nice dive bar (??) than a club.
EDIT: I a word. Also, adding info.

never knew of this place before...will definitely swing by and check it out before we make the decision...appreciate the heads up!!!
If you know someone willing to sell a Dallas ticket (GA) at face value , please let me know.
Muchos gracias Jeffari. All sounds good.
That one 4 miles from the venue, how would you get to the gig from there....you lot all got wheels and a driver?

good luck with that one...
I'm hoping these scalpers will be getting a little antsy closer to the actual dates...because what they are asking now is fucking insane...

part of checking it out will also include transit links...
our system isn't quite as good as what I found in London...but I am looking for the ease of getting all of us from the boozer to the venue...
figured out where you are staying yet???
Norbert has sorted out a hotel, but I dont know which one! I haven't looked at this myself yet.

We are staying at the Adolphus - I think that it's close to the venue, do you know? Be nice to just cab it --

It's only about a mile walking from the Adolphus to the Palladium...so about a five minute cab ride...

I'm learning that Dallas is expensive this time of year. Football game, someone said. Convention too, perhaps. No $$$ for Paris Hilton, though. Would rather stay at SUPER 8.

same hotel the band stayed at in 93...or was it 89...
Strangeways was quite interesting...but the transit options don't seem very kind...
there are also a couple of decent enough boozers IN downtown...then we can take the train for a little bit...then hoof it about half a mile...
or there's Deep Ellum...
or the massive Trinity Hall...but that place will deffo be packed the day/night before the Texas OU game...
grrrrrrrr....why can't there be a decent boozer right by the venue???

if anybody needs wants to get a hold of me...
and how early are we looking at hitting a boozer on Friday...that will help with the decision...

Sounds good Jeff.
Should be there for around 5.30. Flight gets in after 3, so need to get to the hotel, dump bags & then off to the boozer.
Can you post the address up?
ahhh...yes...an address....
City Tavern 1402 Main
so yes...it's right in the middle of downtown....
Two blocks from Akard Station, behind the Adolphus Hotel...easy trip on the train to the venue...
1st time poster
Greetings all. Have tickets to tonight's show in Dallas but can't make...meaning I've STILL only seen them in concert once...1993 Shoreline, Mountain View. Also meaning I have 2 tickets available[:eek]. Asking face value + tax, $127.00 total. They're in pdf so I can email them. I can dust off the Paypal account, or we'll figure something out. Jeff has my phone number, or you can email me.
Melancholy Cheers
We are 100 miles from Dallas and staying at the Adolphus we will definitely stop by the city Tavern
Just got home from the show. It was my first New Order concert been waiting for over 20 years. It was the best show I have ever been to. They played for about two hours. Got to see my favorite song performed live (True Faith). Plus they played some Joy Division. Also me and my wife where right up front. The only thing that would of made it better is if I could of got there autographs. To everyone that went I hope you all had a great time. I hope they come back so I can see them again.![]()
ok, very nice show...
had not seen them in ages.
went with a group of friends so didn't have time to catch up with NOOLER's (sorry)..
venue was packed, got their early and waited a bit before going in...
friends got the t-shirt, i got the very last keychain they had!
onto the show.. a dj played, and a local group called ishi played afterwards.

If the encore gets any bigger there'll be no time for the main show.
Good to see shadowplay back.
Really enjoyed the show last night. Thought the best t-shirt wasn't at the merch stand, but was the one Stephen was wearing that said "You lost me at hello."
