Bernard said that they played "World" because some fans met the band at the hotel and they requested this song, but those guys told me that the request was actually "Round and Round". There has surely been some miscommunication. "World" was shit live, by the way.
Actually, Bernard said they played it because ONE fan said it was his favorite track (go figure!) and that it might not have been a good idea doing it considering they didn't rehearse it properly (in his words). I thought it sounded nice live, better than on Republic, specially the drums - it was really Steve's night
Unless Bernard has been approached by anbother fan whose his favorite song is "World" (very weird, but it's possible, isn't it?), the story is: I met Bernard three times along this tour in South America and we had a chat in Buenos Aires and in Montevideo. Specifically in Montevideo (when I was with Marcello Dourado) during our last conversation I said directly to him I would like to see them playing "Round and Round" in São Paulo. He said "Such a great suggestion! Yes, that's ok". And after that, he also said: "The reason we don't play it so much is we didn't use to add to the set more songs I have to sing without the guitar because I have to dance and my knees are not good enough".
After they playing "World" in São Paulo, Bernard told a quite similar story to explain the reason why they decided to play that song - the exception was the mention about the trouble with his knees. Or it was a big resemblance with the story of another fan, or Bernard's misunderstood/forgot my original wish. Anyway, I was very surprised to see them performing "World", but it wasn't a good live version at all.
