Im not sure mate, it will be the first time i have played there myself, the rest of the band have played there, ill have to ask them.:p

Well, I'll be there Al... Have to wear my avatar (or one of them) on a t-shirt... Unfortunately, my girlfriend (Gillian lookalike) is away at her martial arts seminar thingy, so I might go with the girl who modelled for the DNE CD inlays 
I haven't played at the Hope & Anchor for years, but last time I did, it was a real pain in the ass to get the equipment in - especially my 4x12 cab!

Small world, I lived on Essex Road till '84 then Cally Road till '90 then Pentonville Road for a year.

I was living there a while after... Used to drink in 'The Three Johns', 'The Pint Pot', 'Filthy's' and 'Finnegan's Wake'. Used to play traditional sessions in those pubs...

Well, after careful consideration, and as I'll be in town anyway, I've decided to try out the Unknown Pleasures gig.
Provided the trains aren't cancelled again, etc.
Probably take a nice young lady with me, so if anyone wants to meet me (or failing that, gawp at her...) then I'll be the very tall one, short cropped hair, earrings, wearing black. Too cold to do the Avatar on T shirt thing...
Maybe see one or two of you there - introduce yerselves - I don't bite.... often

Only just seen this, after the event. Did you go in the end Chris? I'm 6ft2 and there was perhaps only 3 or 4 lads there taller than me - me and Johnny G were discussing if you might be there, and wondered who you might be. When you say 'earrings' do you mean maybe 4 or 5 in the one ear? And did you have a digital camera, and a blonde with you?
That's the one, Al... The blonde is the girl from my avatar. If I'd known you were there, I'd have bought you and Johnny a pint...

Did you leave early, cos I seem to remember you were propping up the bar during first band (Northern Girl?) and then me and Gordie spent most of Unknown Pleasures set in that spot, shouting Ceremony (me) and She's Lost Control (Gordie) between tracks. There was maybe 10 of us out in total: me, JG and Gordie, plus a lad Wayne who a lot of people here know but who we didn't even know was gonna be there. Then were was Iain and Bunny and their contingent of BSP fans.
What did you think of the band? Thought they were good though could've perhaps dropped the Curtis fly dance. The Barney lookalike needs to learn the synths though - they did Isolation and LWTUA at the end as geetar only tracks, with not an eletronic blip in sight which kind've took the gloss off them somewhat.

First band were a bit bland, but not unpleasant. Drummer reminded me of Irvine Welsh.
I enjoyed the music for the second band alot - like a weird mixture between early ACR and Happy Mondays, shame the vocals were so flat.

Bad start when the singer thinks he has to 'la la la' along to what should have been a guitar riff.
Even though he looked like 'Fish' from Marillion, I thought I'd give him the benefit of the doubt. Until the dancing thing... If you're going to try to copy dancing, etc, are you a 'tribute' band or a 'covers' band or...?
I must say though, that 'Digital' wasn't bad. 'Novelty' made me truly cringe.
They should either try to sound like JD or just go for a good 'alternative' sound playing the songs as covers.
I have a feeling that they were the same band I saw a few years back, somewhere just off Wardour Street/Soho area. I wasn't impressed then either - if not, then I apologise.
If it hadn't been quite late, we may have stayed longer, but neither of us were impressed enough to bother to stay.

Might have been the sound set up, but the drums, bass and guitar all seemed out of time with each other. Trouble is that Novelty has always been one of my favourites and it sort of spoiled it for me.
Didn't make it, unfortunately, as had some severe problems with the move that have only just been rectified 48 hours later.
Did you tape the gig Steven ?

Chris ....interesting to note that NOVELTY is probably my favourite JOY DIVISION songs aswell.Not many NOOL's have ever mentioned this song.An absolute cracker in my opinion!

I had my MD recorder there, the Engineer plugged it in and i pressed record, Then to find the next morning there was f'all on it apart from 8 seconds of something else. I was a bit gutted i must say.
We are playing the Limelight Club in crew next week so we will make sure we get a recording for cert.
Also a fair point by Al Jarvis about no keyboard, We actually only decided on playing them 2 songs on the day as we thought they sounded good enough with the guitar in that sound.
