I cant remember if weve done this before, but with Mister $ultan setting, what must be, a new record $790.00 for a New Order 7" vinyl (Blue Monday Japanese 7" promo). Whats the most you`ve spent on a New Order CD or vinyl release?
My moment of madness was :POWER, CORRUPTION AND LIES (Factory/Rough Trade RTD11A marble vinyl LP for $300 on eBay . I haven`t seen it cheaper since, eil.com had it for 225.00GBP. Rare record prices quote it at 100.00GBP+
err... £38 for FACDV73R yesterday!!
Vinyl? Can't remember... nothing outrageous anyway.

Notice the NZ Blue Monday 12 inch RED Vinyl no price for this, according to TLV there are only 2 copies.

I'm very skeptical to priceguides, especially for super-rare items, such as the NZ BM. There simply aren't enough copies available to establish some "average" price. The actual price, if ever sold, depends on a lot of parameters that can't be controlled (timing, knowledge of the seller, number of buyers, buyers' desire to own the item, etc.)
Even on fairly non-rare items, a priceguide can be misleading since the standard deviation from the average price can be very large.
The best way, IMHO, is to establish a personal limit to how much you want to pay. That limit, at least for me, has increased over the years, with the introduction of the web, ebay, and a steady income :)
I remeber paying $30 (or something like that) for the mispress of LWTUA b/w BM. I wonder what it would sell for today. I haven't seen it on eBay.

For me collecting didnt start seriously until I bought a pc in 2001, although Ive been a fan since 1981, I had no idea how much to spend on items, the guide gave me a general idea on what to pay, and in some cases I paid double the price guide for an item. Without a pc I would never have come across the New Order Discography, the most informative discography by far. Good on you TLV

Back 15 years ago i bought a New Order bootleg for $50 (that's in Australian currency mind you) don't remember much about except it had a blue cover (very much like the Ceremony artwork) and it was recorded at "shit studios", can't remember the tracklisting (it was similar to Movement) because one of my "friends" nicked it.

Well, you impatient b@$t@rD ;) I have an 60% completed update (estimated) on my computer. It's been at 60% for some time now. The problem is that I have a large number of sleeves to scan and I've been procrastenating for a long time now.
I feel that there will be an update before the end of the year. It may sound like a long time, but time flies in the fall...
If I can't make the deadline, just kick my @$$...

So, tell me Mr Blue: Does the 'Blue Monday 88' CDV really have a different version of the 7" edit on there in the CD Audio part of the disc? Did you find it on Ebay? And, can you play the video on any gadgetry you may have?
I bought the 'Trust Faith' CDV but couldn't play the video - although it was worth it for the Remix Edit and 'Evil Dust' in particular.

Yes it was off e-bay, so I have'nt actually got it in my hands yet. I'm 99% certain that the edit is different, if not I've wasted my money!
I don't have anything that will play the video, not that I'm worried because my True Faith one has never been viewed either.

I bought an Album called Decadence not long ago from the Technique era for £40 but I can't remember if it is the most I've spent on one item.

Mmm, well technically it is a different version, but with exactly the same structure. Only us obsessive New Order fans would spot the difference: the bit between 0:07 and where the vocals begin is an edited version of the BM88 12" mix's intro, but with the same structure and timings as the normal 7" mix - just some extra keyboard bits in the background that are only audible in the 12" mix.
All a bit pointless, really, but I guess the CDV is collectable enough!

I've just got hold of a shrink-wrapped, as-new version of this CDV. It is, indeed that ever-so-slightly different (alternative?) seven inch mix of BM88.
Anyone noticed, that it's not Beach Buggy on there, despite the track listing? It's actually BM88 (Dub Version) as released on Qwest in America. Slightly longer and a different set of sound effects and samples - kind of like an instrumental version of the original 1983 12" with some overdubs of sounds in the 88 version.

I paid about $90.00 for Reading 93. Boy I wish we had more internet back then!!! I found it at a Bootleg shop, that only sold rare albums.

Too much for the original BBC Transcription LP of the Glasto '87 show that includes 3 of the missing tracks left off of the offical CD release. It was actually a birthday gift from my wife (that required numerous hints).
