Oh, those rarities, don't ya just love 'em. But how many people have the "Radio Edit" of 'Regret' (different from the album version but, ironically, never heard on the radio).

More to the point, why was the 12 Inch mix of 'Fine Time' never released on CD... And don't tell me it's on Technique, because there is a difference I've proved before!

If you get the Japanese 3 inch CD single of 'Touched By The Hand Of God', you can get the seven inch edit of 'Touched By The Hand Of Dub' in a digital format, same goes for the Japanese 5 Inch CD of 'Blue Monday 1988' and the seven inch edit of 'Beach Buggy'.

All these rare tracks, and fitting that I'm mucking around with Sound Forge and CD Architect right now, making my own little 'Retro' rehash to collect many of them!

Okay, there were two 'Touched' Japanese CD Singles. It's simple really: one was a three incher and had the two tracks on the seven inch, one was a five inch CD with the two twelve inch mixes. The little'un was the only place to get the 'dub' seven inch mix on CD.

As for 'Regret', there's lots of mislabelling of the album version (7" Mix/Radio Mix, etc), but one promo has a "Radio Edit" and "7 Inch Version" - the 'radio edit' is slightly short at the start and end. Probably Mr Hague in the studio paying a little too much attention to detail, and knocking out shorter seven inch mixes that differ to the album versions, along with Ruined, World and Spooky. Hell, he probably did radio edits of every damn track on Republic, for all we know.

I'm sure I can still find some at the local HMV.. unless the Internet orders cleaned their inventory...

Good luck with finding it, Nic - if you find a couple of '1981-82' on CD, put 'em on e-bay and sell 'em for a fortune! :D

Me? I got it when it came out, although there's not that many out there nowadays...

l8rs,

Isn't the only difference that warped quitar bit at 1:20 that sounds like a mistake?

Yep. Bet the band never even noticed! Probably an earlier mix done in the studio before they decided which one went on the album!
