Ian Curtis memorial fund

What's the deal with the fellers in New Order not playing any benefit shows for the family of Mr. Curtis when they started off in 1980? Were they such greedy cunts that they didn't want to help support the widow and young'un left behind? I mean, not like cremation and that tiny ass memorial stone would've cost much, but don't you think it would've been a polite thing to do?

If they couldn't afford to buy their dog enough food to eat, that sounds like they were pretty damn poor. I don't know, maybe dog food just costs a lot more in Britain.

hmmmm im pretty sure that ians wife got his share of the royalties from any jd stuff,plus at the time i think that the rest of them was in the same boat ie: BROKE. factory wasted most of new orders money and it looks like the same was done with jd. pointless pointing a finger at the band if u ask me,point it at wilson et al, they r the guys who owed ians family in the end.

1/4 of Joy Division royalties since 1980? Let's see, doing the math....1/4.....23 years.....rabid fan base of two.......that works out to about $1.50 per year :D

I don't necessarily think they would've done a "benefit concert" in 1980-81, as that wasn't big until the Live Aid era. Besides, they're now doing a ton of JD songs in concert, so that's tribute enough I think. No need for a weepy, overdone "tribute", the fact that they've carried on should be tribute enough. I think the common mistake a lot of newbies might make is thinking, because they made such a break with their JD past, that NO want to "forget" their heritage. I think it just would've been too hard to do a JD song so soon after the event.
