Following New Order during the 1980's was an amazing experience. A different set every night, the shear adrenalin rush of an upcoming gig, only those who have witnessed this will understand. God, I've spent hours telling people what the whole thing is like and they look at you gone out. But, another important element was the "Blackburn Youth" always present (normally in front of Hooky) I never really new them but after a few gigs you just recognise people from the previous gig. There must have been at their peak about 15 - 20 of the all with Barny haircuts and shorts on..fuckin ace!! Cant really remember many faces but there was a big guy who was always with them blonde short back and sides. I know for a fact that Hookey dedicated a number of songs to the Blackburn Youth following. Are any of you here?? does anyone rember them..??

They've been mentioned here a few times in the past, most recently in a link HERE where you'll also see a scan from the NME where Barney talks about them.

Nah, there's no Youth who post here but lots of us remember them.

I'm sure this has been asked before but who was the guy in the 80s who used to should for "we all stand" at every gig. His voice pops up on various mid-eighties bootlegs and is instantly recognisable. At Macclesfield Leisure Centre he was shouting "Heroin! heroin!" Any ideas?

i will find out a bit more on this subject as my auntie and uncle are from blackburn and they used to go watching new order everywere ,as i have metioned before my other uncle from blackburn surported new order at a reading gig.so i will find out some info

Thanks for that Bez. Like i said previous I only remember one guy really tall at least 6'2" blonde hair. Always used to be there just like me and I expect quite a few others.

:clap: just got off the phone with auntie and asked her about the blackburn youth and she was one of them they used to go to a lot of new order gigs she give me a few names what she can remember anyway alister bailey,darren bromley,bradley,mick ellis,cath moor,melanie and the duck (she thinks the duck might be the blonde one you have metioned) she said my uncle knows more about them all though auntie says she joined this new order GANG (lol) from a rival gang hahahahah oh what fun it must have been :clap: :clap:
