Admit it..your favourite group has actually inspired you to wear items of clothing just like them.So what was it and do you still own it.For me it happened only a few years ago when i noticed BARNEY wearing a LEVI TWISTED ENGINEERED JACKET.So i tried to copy the look and got
mistaken for looking like a 70's COMEDY STAR's DICK EMERY'S son ..GAYLORD.But i still love the jacket but haven't quite got over the insult.Cheers HANK!
Now what have you done...maybe the BARNEY BARNET or in SHUGZV's case....a GILLIAN dress...
Don't be ashamed now...i used to have a ADAM ANT jacket and a DAVID BOWIE ZOOT SUIT.

I'd mentioned this before, but the only time I've ever bought a piece of clothing because of who wore it was the Bundeswehr vest that Barney sported back in the mid-80s; found myself in a military clothing store in the Bay Area and there was one on the rack; impulse buying totally on display.
i just don´t like the way our hero´s wear. specially hooky´s leder pants, barney´s shorts and steve´s camouflated outfits! 
I had ( erm still have ) the Bundesweir vest and the Barney Hair cut.
However the vest has shrunk, or maybe my waist line has expanded.

- Zipped neck tops
- Hooded coats
- In 87 used to wear that summer's tour t-shirt with a blue cotton shirt over it (a la True Faith vid)
- Big shorts (have stuck rigidly to these over the years)
- Even bought a pair of basketball boots after Finsbury 87, with the Nike socks to match!
- Oh, and this huge pair of fawn cords from Ken Market after Woolwich 87. They were pretty cool but seemed to go right up to me armpits.
- And the piece de resistance - a bright yellow crew neck after Barney wore one on the Tube! Nasty.
Anyone ever attempt to dress like Hooky? All leather with biker boots?! 
Just remembered I also had a BLOGGS long sleeved shirt ala Barney Fine Time TOTP

Two slightly embarrassing confessions - I did once buy a raincoat in my early 80's 'miserabelist' phase, and also developed a strange liking for tank tops, no doubt inspired by Bernard 
On a not entirely unrelated topic, the programme, "what not to wear" featuring those two yuppy harridens, played 'transmission' in one episode....

Just remembered, I had (still have) a lot of Gio Goi as sported by Barney during Electronic.
Also wore a lot of Appaloosa in 89/90 cos of the Mondays.

Had the trenchcoat, and a few Barney haircuts, but never looked on any of them as fashion icons. Barney at the BBC in 1984 proves my point.

I don't think I ever had anything other than a Barneyish haircut. Had some Gio goi jeans and various hooded tops but not because of New Order.

was talking to shug about that but we decided it wouldn't be a good idea to point it out! they laso played new order in the same one! (unless of course they have used transmish more than once)

My boss does. Even got the beard and is of similar height and age (though hasn't suffered the ravages of touring, popstar lifestyle etc !). May have something to do with his using a motorbike to get into work from his Oxford home though...

reminds me i photographed a musician who could be a spit of hooky. met him at a pub a few months before and did a double take
When I started Uni I met a bird called Lucy who was a New Order nut, she even had a Barney haircut!
One of our first nights down the union bar we spied this lad with another Barney cut (I also had one meself then - I actually had HAIR then!) and he was wearing THE quintessential New Order hooded coat. You know, the cream one with the check inside, as worn by Barney here -
So we goes over and starts talking to this lad, purely because we think he's New Order and the bloke only turns round and says he's a fookin' HOUSEMARTINS fan cos he's trying to look like Norman FatBoy Cook in the Happy Hour video! Sacrilege.
lol. double reminds me. back in about 89 i met a bloke who was the spit of barney, with the barney hair. first saw him driving round the seafront in a beaten up mk2 escort. Im standing there mouth open wondering what on earth barney is doing crusing in my home town.
hmmm. and i know someone who could pass for steve easily. only need to find a gillian lookalike and i could set up a tribute band :)

I still have 4 hooded parkas from the NO/Madchester phase. And I now wear Adidas trainers.

let's see...did the do...also purchased one of the German tops...and I also wear adidas...but that came about when there was still a band kicking around known as joy division:p

Well, as you've mentioned the BBC performance I'd better come clean... The slip on deck shoes weren't too bad (you know, the blue and white ones) but I thought I'd have a go at the sleeveless jumper with no shirt underneath. Big mistake on a puny 15yr old, but I thought I looked sooo cool...

al....that was absolutley horrendous, i hope you never matched it up with those nasty looking loafers he wore that night. as for me,plenty of attempted barnster cuts and as clive has mentioned after 84 bbc show i dashed out to my nearest army stores and bought some deck shoes.
