Well, I am quite excited and honored for this opportunity that NOOL has given me, I just hope I can represent this site well! What we would like to do is ask Hybrid and Peter hook questions from members of NOOL. So please feel free to post your question below, and I will ask them your questions.

As much as I'd like to ask hooky a million questions, I am there to interview Hybrid. Have any of you all heard the album yet? I'm supposed to be getting a copy soon. Can you guys help me out with any background info about Hybrid?
Those are the (still) unanswered question from the question list we sent to Warner UK (they told us to do so, we never got any feedback from them)... maybe THOSE could still be answered, at least those for Hooky...

I'd jusk ask Hooky a generalised question about New Order, what are they up to right now, and I guess Hooky will answer or not answer it dependin on his mood on the given day. In the rest of the interview I'd ask questions to and about Hybrid, One of them being the obligatory "How does it feel to work with someone who's been a hero of yours", and "How does it feel to work wit people to whom you've been a hero". Just my humble opinion.

I've come to this thread a bit late - is there some sort of Q&A session that Michael is attending, and he is defo gonna be allowed to ask a question? Or is it just a cos of asking a question if you stumble upon him at the bar, or something? If it's the latter, why not ask him if he fancies a drink!!

No, Michael will have a private interview with Hybrid and Hooky..
At least they told me so... I'm careful now, as I don't want anyone to be deceived by past experiences..
It won't be done at the club, it will be done somewhere else.. will it really be private? I can't say, but I manage to get it for someone from NOOL...
It's my understanding that it will be a private interview. but if things don't go as planned and I'm somehow in a room with other interviewer for a q&A session, i'd be happy to do that as well! :)

So here's the latest news on this. I just spoke to the PR person from the club. She told me she forwarded my info to the person who schedules the interviews. She did mention that Hooky is a bit selective with the interviews and it would be up to him. So i'll have to wait to see if this interview is a go. but I still can go up and hang out, and that would already be more than enough!
I'll close this site if Hooky doesn't do an interview to a place where the public is EXCLUSIVELY New Order fans...

joy division is still one of the most popular bands on college radio which means kids from the ages of 18-22 are getting into one of the greatest bands of all time. What is it about jot division that still attracts new listners 23 years later?

Bear in mind that at the end of the day he is human, same as most of the rest of us, and bad days are had occasionally. Given the track record of Hooky when it comes to interview truculence and his connection to World in Motion, don't expect an interview, but be grateful for one if it happens. This ain't no press bandwaggon anymore, in fact it never was for New Order. If I was him I deliberately wouldn't do it now (in jest), just to see if you carried out the threat ;)

true he's from manchester, but over here in the US A LOT of bands get their start on college radio (REM is one famous example), as it's one of the only freeform media on the air, and one of the only places independent labels can get their bands heard. even major labels take notice. i was the MD for my college radio station, and EMI had the local college MDs over to their NYC offices for a 'video watching' party. one of the videos they showed us was a rough cut of fun lovin' criminals first release, before they had received any airplay at all. they wanted to know what we thought before they released the album and the video. college radio has an incredible amount of influence over here...if it weren't for college radio, JD and NO might have never been heard in the states! particularly considering what was on the air at the time!

A lot of US bands get their start on college radio. Don't think they exactly need a start now, or to be honest care about whether they got heard in the states.....making it B.I.G. was never the reason.
Ask Hooky if he or the band memebers would ever like to post on our lovely forum once in a while, or whether he only does that on forums when fellow rich bastards (initials D.S.) lick his arse.
the question is not about getting heard in the united states on college radio. i was using that as a source of evidence. the question is... what is it about joy division that still attracts young people? a question about relevance and a feeling of knowing what you have done in the past and continue to do now (new order/side projects) still influences people across the world. thanks for your imput though.

If it was all about competition, I'd go there myself, but I wanted to give back to the people who helped NOOL, and Mike came to mind since he's close to New York and wanted to go.. and I think it's a good opportunity for many things, if not, at least Mr Hook might remember who's the guy that did a CD ripping off his tunes

My point being that he already givs interviews to the web, on the other site, so may feel that he doesn't need to give any more. And the best reason for not wanting to talk to 10,000 members of your biggest fan club is the fact that there are 10,000 of them supposedly hanging on his every word. They don't play these US media games, and are likely to refuse for all the reasons that tell you that they should accept !
Ask him (advice him...) if New Order ever thought to put the never played songs in the setlist. I think a cult band with 26 years of history should have played live not all their songs, but at least... you know what I mean...
I find it 'interesting' that the person selected to do this interview hasn't even heard the Hybrid album (which is excellent). I assume the interview is on the back of THEIR album which features Hooky on 2 tracks (and their current live dates promoting same), and I would imagine any potential interview would be with THEM + Hooky (probably through their record label Distinctive). Consequently, I really can't see much point in asking any questions about NO or JD, and I'd be surprised if the current crop of questions would win much interest in a 'bidding war' for an interview with them.
If you do get an interview (or questions that might possibly entice them/him to give you an interview); I'd ask them:
(a)about the masses of material they mention they recorded with Hooky at the same time as he did the stuff for their album (this is mentioned on the DVD which comes with the album). When's it coming out? In what form?
(b) given Hooky's obvious enthusiasm for playing, and the empathy between him and Hybrid should he/they not consider doing a Hooky based (solo) album?
(c) What NO tracks would they like to remix?
But Martin.. this is NEWORDERonline, so they expect us to be there and ask them questions on behalf of New Order fans, not Hybrid fans...
Mike will listen to the album before going, don't worry...
regarding the tracks Hooky contributed to ask Hybrid how he fitted into the writing process, did he co-write songs with them from scratch or did he add his distinctiveness to existing compositions? Also ask Hooky if he uses the same bass rig as he does with NO? Hooky will most likely tell u to f*** off but it's worth a shot :p

i wouldnt like to ask a question of them based on that basis. i would however like to ask hooky if anyone from new order or one of their minions visits this site from time to time and do they take a blind bit of notice of anything thats said. id like to think they cared enough about their fans to at least listen once n awhile.;)

confess to not having yet heard Hybrid (funds-related) but will, so general question, are they planning on growing the live project internationally? Have they had feedback from Europe club scene etc. How's it looking? Wish 'em the best of luck too.

Yes, they are. I haven't heard many of their original tracks but their single being promoted in the US, True To Form, is a pretty good track with Hooky's bass prominently displayed.
They have also made some stellar remixes for artists like BT, Moby, Crystal Method, and Sarah McLachlan. Not to forget one of the best remixes last year, Tears From The Moon with Conjure One & Sinnead O'Connor.
Ask them if the fans can expect hear a good Hybrid-remix of a New Order track with Hooky's bass kept intact...
Also tell Hooky to come down to Orlando and I'll buy him a beer or two... ;)

Well, I haven't heard back from anyone about the interview, SO I'm guessing it'snot going to happen. They did send me a the cd that included a DVD. I've listened to it twice so far, I did enjoy a couple songs on it. True to Form is definitely worth a listen. I'm halfway through the DVD. Hooky appears on it when Hybrid are talking about the collabroration. I also saw a portion of hybrid performing True to Form live without hooky. The bass player in the band was actually playing his bass like hooky! It usually takes me several more listen before I decide if i like the the cd or not, but so far I am enjoying it :)
