I haven't listened to this song in a while, and I was just listening to Technique. Now, this was probably answered before, but are Barney's vocals, the bass spoken "sophisticated lady" part, distorted? I know on Taras he has trouble getting even that low, and although he can't sing as high as Neil Tennant (who probably sings in a woman's range), is he actually singing that low?

I may be very wrong, but doesn't Barney sing that part with some vocal distortion? Seems I saw them playing it live somewhere, but maybe it was on Top of the Pops and they were lip-synching again, so I don't know.

Barney does not sound like Neil Tennant, as Neil Tennant is a woofer, he has special help reaching those notes, if you know what i mean.

and he is a telentless twat.

on that TOTP show Barney does playback over the low vocals so it doesn´t mean he did them. could be or could be not. :shrug:

What of the vocodered bit? Is it clear from Starplex Dallas '93 (disc 4/Retro) that it's "Ecs-ta-sy", or was that just a local variation?

Once and for all (and we have been over this before in this very forum).....the deep bit is, as CB quite rightly says, Barney through a pitch shifter. The vocoder bit is "Ecstacy".

I'm sure this has been mentioned too, but wasn't Barney trying to sound like Barry White? And I think someone (probably Hooky) said it sounds more like he's having a difficult shit.

I wasn't saying Barney sounds like Neil Tennant. I was merely saying that although he can't sing as high as he can, he sings higher than most male lead singers, so his voice range in Fine Time would make absolutely no sense unless it was distortion.

I thought I read that both Bernard and Hooky sang the song. Bernard wanted to do a high pitched sultry Donna Summer impression while Hooky was doing a Barry White.
