Bollocks-all news of the UK gigs at the moment mate, why don't you drive round to Barney's house and ask him?!!

I did hear a whisper that they are likely to be doing 12 gigs in Europe, about 9 in the UK - some in Manc. land.

NME's the best bet for gig shit, mind you, this site (as I've just discovered) is fucking amazing for gleaming New Order shit before they've even decided it themselves!

Liv, I'm sure Hooky does whisper. Perhaps when talking about Revenge !?! ;)

why would he whisper about revenge? i saw them live 5 or 6 times, and enjoyed every second of those gigs. one true passion was a great album too, even though it may have been a bit heavy on the old electronic parts, but still hooky's basslines shone through like a fog lamp in the dark.

Alright I can't stay quiet about this.

Revenge, come on, let's face it, was utterly shit. Joy Division, New Order (and Joy Division's previous incarnations) were and are totally classic.

Revenge - poor. Hooky needed a band around him, not Hooky putting a band around himself.

Electronic - close, but no cigar.

The Other Two - well, what was going on there? - some half-decent moments.

Viva New Order, this new album has been a long time coming.

This isn't just my view, I have a few close mates who agree with this, I mean, Revenge... the best thing about Revenge is the artwork. In fact (here we go) 'What do you want from me' - did Hooky not think, well I can't really release this can I? - you know, sounds just a BIT like Barney doesn't it????

Well as I write, I have dusted down the LP of "One True Passion" put it on the turntable, and agree with you totally. It is a pile of cack up against anything related to JD/NO. Even the signature bass of Mr Hook is low in the mix and in the whole sounds bland. He saved his latter days in the 90's with Monaco...just!

yeah i agree that the album is not upto New Order's high standards, but Revenge were always MUCH better doing a live set than on anything CD/vinyl/tape/whatever.

Oh by the way, 'What Do You Want From Me' is by Monaco, and not Revenge

Roll on October/November for the tour

Thank you! Scott B, about time somebody with a bit of sense turned up. Absolute crap Revenge, the most upsetting aspect is that Hooky lost a lot of cred.

Okay Scott, I don't know how we'd convinve Hooky Monster... I think he's too far gone.

That was meant to say convince

Try and convince me all you like. I like Revenge, you don't - simple as that really. I even met the bloke a few times at Revenge gigs, as well as a couple of his wives too. Not forgetting Inspiral Carpets, and a few other bands that my brain fails me at this moment in time. Ohhh those were the days of running away from home for a few days to go and see Revenge in some godforsaken strange town or other at 16 years of age.

Not wanting to disrespect your taste in music Hooky Monster, but you can imagine being a New Order fan from the early eighties, and watching them grow in stature... really, I just though, Revenge was a pale imitation when they surfaced post New Order days.

Too me, just too cheap sounding... a bit like doing a Smiths song with synths!

Actually, I think all Electronic & Monaco tracks are good. (Well, maybe not all, but most of them).. and there is some good tracks on the last Other Two album, and a few on the first one.

I was very happy with them, it was a pretty good New Order substitute IMHO. Now that they're back, it's better.. but Electronic & Monaco were pretty good side-projects...

Yes, you might be right Nic, but I don't want to listen to pretty good stuff... only the real thing. In the same way I wouldn't make do with a crap film, when an excellent film is there for the taking.

Lifes far too short to waste time on imitations.

Saw Revenge at Cities in the Park some distant year in the past. Crowd asleep until they did Dreams Never End. I'm fond of Pinapple Face though.

Will put Dreams Never End from that show in the Tours & Concerts section soon.

And I too, like Pineapple Face.

Seb.

There is a debate here... if you had a major sport team, would you rather have 5 players that will give you the stats of a superstar, or a superstar :)

I agree, New Order is better.. but when New Order is out of the question, I was happy with the side-projects.

Electronic's first album is excellent. Tighten Up would be fun to see live with a real guest on guitars (corgan still sucks). The blend of guitars and electronics on that song is second only to Dream Attack.

This is getting out of hand, there's a storm brewing on this subject... as New Order devotees, its only right and proper this subject is thrashed out on a new message board, I CANNOT ACCEPT the side projects as true New Order quality, in any way, shape or form. Lets analyse this, 'side projects' - who christened that name? - it implies they were never good enough to be a front runner.

I'm going to construct this argument for all to see, expect me back with a real topic starter very soon, and hopefully, everyone should come out for this one!!!

oh my gawd, i'm beginning to wish i'd never started this topic now. but i guess it's been for the best as it has started a real debate
