Brought the brixton academy video off ebay the other day, whoever edited it should be shot! Cutting interviews inbetween the songs was bloody annoying! especially during "Dreams Never End" which is one of my favs.:(

Hi, Mike...

...r u sure u mean the 'Brixton Academy' gig from Apr. 4th 1987, which was released on video tape in 1989, and not the 'Brixton Academy' gig from Oct. 10th 2001, which was indeedly released on dvd ?...

Greetz, Floyd Anderson.

I've transferred the video's soundtrack to my computer, and then managed to remove the interview segments, so that Dreams Never End now plays out as smooth as Hooky's chin way back when he was a baby (remember, he was a baby once!). This can be done because every time the track starts anew, after each interruption, it begins shortly before the point where it was cut off.

Feel free to e-mail me if you'd like a copy of this on CD-R.

a copy of DNE or the dvd???

I was talking about the audio only. This was an official VHS release in the late eighties (titled Academy), which so far has not yet been put out on a legitimate DVD. Some enterprising fan may already have gone to the trouble of making a DVD-R/DVD+R/whatever out of it, but it ain't me... I just made an audio CD-R with the complete soundtrack, including an uncut DNE.

I did the same. It was well worth the effort.

i've got Academy on DVD. it came with Substance tacked on the end and i'm damn pleased. the menu is lame but i can skip tracks and go straight to highlights if i want. it's been bootlegged and has been floating around the Northwest US. My friend has done DVD's for Pumped Full of Drugs, Here Are the Young Men, Substance Plus (includes all the videos up to Here To Stay), Joy Division Substance, Happy Mondays Live, Durutti Column - Domo Arigato Live, Compilation with Factory Outing etc. and a the complete NewOrderStory. They have sweet menu's and F-ing ROCK.

NewOrder need to put these out or continue to be fleeced by bootleggers.

The Brixton Academy 12th Oct 2001, is an audience recording of the entire gig, from the last of the 3 nights they played at the venue.

I have transferred it to dvd, the quality is up there with the best audience recordings. 1 hour 25mis complete with Menu and Chapter points.

Is this the copy from the balcony? Has yours got Dreams Never End on it, Mike? Mine fades out the second Blue Monday finishes.
