I noticed in your gigography that you included all their cancelled gigs, but what about the gigs they were about to do in America? It would be intertesting to find out where they were suppose to be touring in America.

Try joydiv.com, they've got an approximated list there (largely based on the gigs NO played in the September.)

Yeah, I was going to add the cancelled US dates, but *only* the AOL site listed them...so...I put it off. Until now, I went ahead and listed them, but changed the sequencing a bit to reflect the likely sequence based on where they actually went and geography.

Intermission by any chance ? He's also got the recording of the gig Joy Division did with The Doors, where Morrison and Curtis did a duet of "The End".

ive been told theres a cover floating around but not that

If those two surfaced and were genuine, I reckon they'd be the first JD recordings from 1978. Correct me if I'm wrong, all you experts out there, but I think I'm right in saying that the earliest known recording is Bowden Vale 3/79 (other than the Electric Circus bits and pieces from 5/77).

Actually, Intermission sent me a genuine 1976 DVD of the Stiff Kittens rehearsing Perfect Kiss in Barney's parent's garage, with Beethoven on synths.

Perhaps that's a typical symptom of someone who has been over-exposed to Joy Division.

Could well be. There is other evidence, after all.

It's more a symptom of people who were under exposed to the band (i.e. they weren't around at the time) but are over exposed to the myth...

i find it hard to believe that more tapes before 79 exist example - if i can find the whole buzzcocks set at the final electric circus gig im sure i can find tapes of the other bands that played that night -
