Not sure if this has been covered before but as I'm new here I thought I'd post up a thread to ask what is everyone's favorite intros to classic New Order songs?

Mine would have to be -..

1 - Sunrise (love the way the guitar bursts in like gun riccochets) 2 - Regret (classic vintage New Order sound) 3 - The Perfect Kiss (12" version) 4 - Ceremony 5 - Thieves Like Us (though the song goes downhill when the vocals come in sadly) 6 - All The Way 7 - Vanishing Point 8 - Subculture (LP version)

Agree with many of the above - Sunrise, Vanishing Point, Ceremony, TPK, Regret.

Special mention also to Crystal, BLT (Bruvverhood only) and Don't Do It.

Ceremony, the way Hooky's signature bass starts off the song as the steady foundation with it's sweet melody along with the drums, providing a solid beam and platform on which the guitars and vocals weave and intertwine to create a masterpiece. Everytime I listen to it it's akin to appreciating a beautiful painting by Rembrandt or the like... makes me quite emotional

The guitar sound on Ceremony - the original 7inch version - is just so wonderful it gives me goosebumps. I love the way the sound just surges - and right towards the end its just awesome. The rerecorded version that was also included on Substance is a bit of a let down. I just wish that version would get released on CD as there have been so many missed opportunities.

Procession, Age of Consent, Dreams Never End, et al.

You ever notice how the intros to the first song on NO's first 3 proper albums all sound very much the same? (Dreams Never End, AOC, Love Vigilantes)

God, I forgot to include Primitive Notion - that one really rocks - the hardest they've sounded since Sunrise IMO.... :)

Oh defo, but I picked songs where the intro is different to the rest of the song, more distinctive. Temptation just starts at pace, then doesn't really change direction. I didn't pick Age of Consent for that reason too.. .

Mind you, I'm really bored now of hearing Blue Monday's intro - it was well cool when it first came out, but now after hearing it a million times you just get sick of it. It's not even their greatest ever song anyway..... ;)

When i first played Low Life, I was blown away by the intro to Face Up and thought it was going to be another NO electronic masterpiece UNTIL the cheesy bouncing synths entered the fray......

Intro to ceremony is just classic.

Best intro ever is Guilty Partner (the MEN arena version) :evil4:

I thought the intro to Face Up was NO taking the mickey out of Hi-NRG music anyway! That slap bass bit is hilarious!
