Extended Get Ready - What do you think?

I have created the following track listing:

Crystal 60 MPH Brutal Turn my way Vicious streak Sabotage Player in the League Slow Jam Rock the Shack Primitive Notion Close Range SLY Run Wild Behind Closed doors

Brutal fits in well with Crystal and 6oMPH all from same sessions. Also Sabotage and PITL fit in really well and in fact add to the variety of the album. In fact the hardest to fit in is BCD as it has a totally different feel to the others, hence I have it at the end.

I wonder if those who still have doubts as to the consistency of the album would have been more positive if Sabotage and PITL were included?

Finally, question about the initial version of Run Wild. So it used to have an (extended) intro. Any other differences in the mix?

Yeah, in the middle, you have the girls (backing singers) going "If Jesus comes to take your hand, I won't let go" alone, without Bernard, and then they repeat it with Barney.

Same thing for Someone Like You, on which we can hear Gillian's voice alone singing "Someone Like You can make me feel like I used to do..... return my heart, yeah, make it feel like it was at the start... wou hou hou woo hou hou" all alone. Very nice.

Maybe that's what should have come out in the first place - at least then we'd feel that the long wait for new material was worthwhile - you know, a New Order lp with LOTS of tracks - not just a measly ten! But of course, it's all too late now, isn't it? Apart from the New Order fanbase, who's even half-interested anymore?

Sorry to keep treading on people's toes here but I am adamant that that is NOT Gillian's voice on "SLY". The last NO track on which you can discern Gillian is "Avalanche" off "Republic". Has anyone posted questions to this effect for your thread Seb?? Cuz, if they haven't maybe they should so we can get the facts once and for all.

You are WRONG Martin, and maybe you should start listening to an Other Two album in order to hear what Gillian sounds like!

If you could hear her on her own on the pre-final mix of Someone Like You, you wouldn't have hesitations about it.

No, sorry -- NEVER! Because these, even if they have additionnal or different parts, are essentially album tracks, and there's no way we will EVER put album tracks on the site.

I know it must be frustrating for you, though! :/

I have BOTH Other Two albums and I'm sure I know what Gillian's voice sounds like - being instantly recognisable in a breathy and light and unmistakably English kinda way, but it just doesn't sound like her on the track in question....so, HAS anybody put this question to the band in your other thread??

This is what the Muffbox has burned onto cd:

1.Crystal 2.60MPH 3.Brutal 4.Turn My Way 5.Vicious Streak 6.Primitive Notion 7.Slow Jam 8.Rock The Shack 9.Sabotage 10.Player In The League 11.Someone Like You 12.Close Range 13.Behind Closed Doors 14.Run Wild

At the beginning of Run Wild i've tagged on a 2 minute period of silence because Behind Closed Doors sounds like a closing track to me, that way the album appears to finish and then Run Wild comes in and blows you away with it's beauty. Yes, despite previously lampooning the song as 'shite' I now love it to death, it really grows on you. :smoking:

Muff pidgeon... I'm pleased to see that Running Wilderbeasts has now sunk beneath your skin like the Glasgee rain. Perhaps now you won't be so quick to poo poo the worlds saddest song compilations available at Christmas time.

And to think I thunk that Muffbox was a scrappy lad of the rough bars of town... swallowing shots of tequilla as if it were sweet apple pie and dumplings. Now I picture him making love to his bread knife with the sultry tunes of the Order accompanied by a tea lite candle on half burn for good measure.

Huntsy, you astound me with your uncanny ability to characterise me in a nutshell. Yes, tis' true that the Muffin can be found on occasion partaking of a few light beverages with the 'hoi polloi' in the 'rough bars of town'. Tis' also true that the Muffin could be percieved as 'scrappy', however the benefit of that is that the 'menacing' part of me, (and a 6'4" frame), keeps troublemakers away, hence I have retained my devilishly good looks. Sadly though, my now estranged 'bread knife' will no more benefit from my tender ways in thy nest of love, having departed the scene for another some weeks ago. This weeks lucky young philly though did particularly enjoy the lime scented candles! ;)

This is a pretty good alternative version of the LP - I agree that there should have been all the songs on the original promo included as well, I'm not sure about "Brutal" being included - that should have been released as a one-off film-trailing single a year ago or whatever. But the rest of it is definitely preferable to the anemic version that we finally got on release.
