This thread should be called 'Oasis are shit NOW!'. The first album was excellent, full of energy, vitality, and attitude. Since then of course Noel has been exposed as nothing more than a common thief while Liam is becoming more and more of a wanker as each year passes. Like it or not neworderonliners, 'Definitely Maybe' breathed new life into the British music scene when it was dead on it's feet and they are due some credit for that. Maybe rather than have a go, which is after all the easiest thing in the world to do, we should be asking who the future of British music is, and do New Order have a significant role to play in that future. Personally, at this time, I don't see where the music scene is heading in this country, maybe one of you do, please enlighten me!

I used to like Aosis (that's deliberate - in tribute to Noel Gallagher's dyxslesia [sic]) until every where I went I couldn't escape that fucking Wonderwall...now I'm sick to death of them and , yes, they should have called it a day when the original line up fell apart. I mean, how much of Oasis are truly "Manchester" now? Three Fifths of them are southern jessies!! Their haircuts may look more uniform now (ha ha ha), but their music has become simply plodding regurgitated shite. Sorry. They should split up now and stop doing a Stone Roses just for the sake of it. Aosis's time was 1994-1996. The best thing they could have done was to leave it at that and move on.

Yeah....Oasis...retro CACK. Regurgitating their riffs from others, and even themselves, in the process. Lyrics so bad they make Barneys read like the collected works of Baudelaire. SLADE were much better - my fave band when I was a wee little nipper. Despite them covering "Cum On Feel The Noize" - a commendable attempt all told - Slade RULED during the 70's. NO-ONE came close. AND I met Noddy Holder when he launched his autobiography two years ago, and chatted to him about the good ole days, then got my signed book off him. What a trooper. I'll always have a soft spot for Noddy and Slade - even if "Merry Xmas Everybody" drives me up the wall each time I hear it. So, yes, Oasis, time for bed, methinks.

Yeah Oasis sounds both shit and boring, but do not hate it -I rather choose not to listen to it - I would hate it, though, if I was forced to. When it comes shit music in terms of "anti-music", I would recommend Foetus or Einztürzende Neubauten, cos it's never boring, though some of it you might call "anti-music" or enercetic danceable noise.

I think Aosis should do something radical if they are to have any hope of getting out of their rut: Noel briefly dallied with The Chemical Brothers (but then who doesn't these days? For the quick-cook-cred-factor??) But knowing Noel's conservatism, they won't do anything of the sort. It's the likes of bands like them and Ocean Colour Scene and the wretched Cast, amongst others, that is causing the UK music scene to be so stagnant all over again.

Oasis had it together the first two albums, then made too much money (Be Here Now) and totally forgot what music is (Standing on the Shoulders of Giants). I give 'em two more years before they finally can't stand one another and break up. The minute they got rid of the original bassist and rythm guitar player, they sold the farm on creativity....

i used to think oasis were ok during the britpop era, but i was more of a blur and pulp fan. now they should just go somewhere far far away taking every copy of standing on the shoulder of giants with them. so yes, i agree they're shit now but they did do some good stuff like 'don't look back in anger' and 'she's electric'.

I'm still waiting for the bastards to do something really radical to surprise us all. How about going all Celtic Folk on us or summat - and having the Corrs Sisters as backup singers??? That should sort them out!!

muffy, i dont know who or what the future of british music is. my only hope is that uk garage, the fad that wont die, will soon be no more...and the dismal "dreem team" will be banished from the airwaves.

This may not be exactly what he said but Noel Gallagher has pissed me off ever since "dance music should no longer carry on, it's all been done, Moby wrote a fookin song with a b.p.m. of a 1000 and The Orb did one with a 0 b.p.m."this was aobut two or three years before getting to no.1 with Setting Sun.And a quote from Liam "I bought the Stone Roses album 4 times,there was nothing wrong with the first one either." I'd never have guessed I thought you were like an original monkey impersonator. I think that they were overhyped by N.M.E. so they could keep rock music alive they didn't want to give any credence to dance after it looked like taking over,just my thoughts.

this thread should really end now..oasis 2001 are really not worth discussing. ps. martin was`t knocking slade; just always thought oasis were as much a slade knock-off act as a beatles one.

Oasis are history, I doubt they'll ever get it together to record another Morning Glory. New Order are still vital, so let's go back to talking about them...

Apparently one of my neighbors is an Oasis-fan. I came home today and the music was playing loudly (think it was 3rd album) and he was singing along, quite loudly (and not very good ;)), I could hear it in my room!

One of my neighhbours likes Joy Division, I could hear music playing from one of the rooms a couple of days ago, but I don't know who it is because I didn't know which room it came from.
