Got this mail tonight...

To confirm these facts: The concert New Order had scheduled for April 8th, 1989 in Puerto Rico was POSTPONED until the next day. Local band NeoEngland, who was scheduled to open for NO, ended up closing after the band because they wanted to perform first. This can be confirmed by calling Alberto Pérez Jr. who works for Angelo Medina (Ricky Martin's ex-manager), and whose father brought the band to Puerto Rico. New Order did perform in Puerto Rico: on April 9th, 1989.

Cheers, Elvin Orta

correct me if i´m wrong (i usually am so...) but i always thought the images of the airport for the Run 2 video were taken from Puerto Rico. why? because those 2 guys waiting there seemed to me puertorriqueños. :skeptic:

that´s not evidence, i know. anyway!

I am pretty sure that if the trip had been a waste of time and the gig not gone ahead I would have heard about it in Miami as I chatted at length to Barney before the show then Jon Scott and I had a few beers with Steve at the superb 'House' club in north Beach later on after the gig.

I always remember seeing Jon in his 'Manchester North of England' t-shirt and I asked him several times why he did not have a 'Glasgow, North of Manchester' one on instead.

Steve actually spilled a cracking story with regard to the visit to PR of when they took off from NY (?) for the island and the locals were walking up and down the plane smoking cigarettes and 'chasing their chickens' as the plane was just leaving the ground.
