After reading some of the less than flattering comments on Barneys waist line I think its only fair to offer a defence for the lad. Remember, the guy is nearly 48 and after the life style he has led it a fucking miracle he's alive! I'm not a queer or anything but this fellow looked pretty cool right into his 40's and the jammy bastard looked 10 years younger than he had any right to look. Also, Mr S had a pretty mean wardrobe to, some his clothes were the bollocks, the man was a fashion icon in my mind. In my opinion I think Barney is New Order, in style and attitude. As I have said, I'm not bent but I had to stick up for the bloke as he's my fucking hero!!

I dont think Barney Cares if people say he is a fat bastard if we didnt love the guy we wouldnt bother commenting on his more than ample waist line and im sure he'd think you Sweet on him for Sticking up for him,lol and basing your wardrobe on his :p

I totally agree! I think he's aged very well given the circumstances. He did manage to look younger than his years for a very long time. I still think he looks good now regardless of the extra love handles and what not. :love2:

I never thought too much of Barney's style as being some type of fashion statement although the skinny tie thing was cool back in the JD days. When one thinks of whole of rock n' roll in its entirety, it seems the best of it is always done by skinny, hungry guys in the throws of their youth. Barney has money enough to buy the finest cut cloth in any size that will fit his ever expanding self. Personally, I don’t want to see my musical icons getting fat and lazy. It bespeaks a kind of slothfulness. A lot of people live well into their 80’s nowadays so being overweight at 45 might tell that someone to trim down and shape if you want a happy, healthy, long life. I wouldn’t want health problems to besiege one of our most gifted and brilliant songwriters. It’s the present and the future we must consider here. To hell with what was. Long live Barney, no matter how big he is. If he doesn’t care, why should we?

On further thought.....it's not the emperor's clothes, nor his girth; it's his brilliant friggin' music that matters
