Yes. Different lengths for a start.
Blue Monday 88 (Dub) as the Americans call it, was only released in the UK on the 12" promo of BM88 (FAC73RD) where it was referred to as the "DJ Only Mix"

That is not entirly accurate matey...the version you refer to is in fact a different dub all together. The American Qwest release of BM88 has the BM88 Dub that is very much different from the DJ Only Mix found on that promo. I've listened to them side by side many times and they are very different.
And, let us not forget that these mixes, or the idea behind them did in fact origininate here in the states.![]()

And, is it just me or does BM88 sound better on the radio for some reason than many other tracks. Conspiracy?![]()
I've got a question about one of the mixes of BM88. Which mix is about 7 minutes long and at the beginning sounds as if someone is breathing really heavy over the intro? I heard this as an audio sample on neworderweb.com when it still existed, but it never listed the remix. So, if this is a remix, which one is it?

Got me mate. Just listened to the 12" Dub, DJ Only, 12" Version, Radio Edit & Beach Buggy...didna hear any breathing. Just some silly arse shouting "Boy this is too much!!"

It's also on a "cassi-single" I own (with TBTHOG, BM88 7" and 12")

OI!! I missed the chance to purchase that one. I was anti-tape at the time. I also missed the CDV

Yes, that did seem to be in the version I heard.

Hmm. Is it completely-different-remix-different, or just-an-edit-different?
I remember comparing the two versions a long time ago and I did not find any differences. Of course, I didn't do a simultaneous (parallell) comparison, and it was a long time ago so my memory may not serve me right.
What about the track-times?

Hmmmm...well, all the BM88's use the same basic beats, samples and loops, so I would go with Different-edit-different. As for the times, I dunno on the DJ only. I'll hafta play it and time it.
Sorry Chunks, but I stand 100% behind my original statement. BM88 Dub and the "DJ Only Mix" are the same thing.
One thing I hadn't noticed (or really cared about, to be honest) is that the CDV is incorrectly labelled. Beach Buggy is in fact the Dub / DJ mix. So I admit I was wrong about the "only UK release" bit in my first post.
I enjoy telling all the jazz nerds I know that Quincey remixed BM & loved NO
always a great comback when they laugh when i say what music I am into :D:D:D:D

...you mean CORVIN DALEK feat. BERNARD SUMNER - Crystal (Silicon Sex Mix) 10:19... ...it's the only new order related song with heavy breathings on the beginning of the track... ...and it doesn't makes me wonder, if this track or parts of it have appeared on the nool's site...
Greetz, Floyd.

I agree. I wouldn't have sold my promo 12" if it had an exclusive mix.
It's been over 10 years but I recall playing the UK promo 12" and US promo CDS simultaneously to compare.
I'm still looking for either version of this track as I understand the original is all but out of print. :(

My lord, I do believe you are correct!!
Please forgive my tragic oversight.
It has been quite some time since I sat down and listened to all the different versions (Like, 91 or something)
You are right, I was wrong...I'll take the hit there. Allllllllrighty then!!!
BUT...I do have a slightly altered version of BM88 (Radio version, mix, edit, whatever) here on some old flexidisc from some Brazillian mag from a few years back. Sounds a bit shorter than my other edits and seems to fade out much earlier.
OK, enough of my babbling for now!!![]()
