Regret, although I do have a soft spot for Everyone Everywhere and the Perfecto mixes of World.
Not very fond memories of this. Regret was good and very promising, then whack-there comes a PSB album. Everyone Everywhere and Special are OK, the rest just doesn't deserve to cary the brand name.![]()
Regret... now there's a word with a few connotations . Played the single to death on Corbieres jukebox Manchester, thought the ad campaign and general build for the album was superb and then I bought it.....
You no likee ? I thought it was the song that brought us back, showed that despite the breaks and excesses, the band were still capable of churning out classic N.O.-by-numbers. Pity about most of the rest of the album, but there you go.

Regret, I think is superb, when I say it I refer to the album. No wonder they took to playin charades with Buddhist types
REGRET by a landslide...boy was this LP a real disapointment when I first heard it. I agree that it sounded alright when it got out of the gate, lead by REGRET, but it just fizzled out rather quickly into a PSB album.![]()
But EE and Special and World have grown on me bit in the years that followed.
I was still rather new to NO at the time, so coming off of a JD kick really added to the over-produced nature of this one.
I never really like that Hague guy any way. Maybe we can shoot him in the face with a bazooka
and get this thing remastered with some Hooky!!!![]()
Everyone Everywhere, although World and Young Offender are pretty close. Regret always seemed too dull, in my opinion.
I really like Regret & Perfecto World (both pretty obvious) . . . but my vote goes for Special.
How sad did I feel listening to those lyrics for all the years they'd 'split' ?
EE was my fave when I first bought the album and remains so to this day.
The remixes of World are good too. I actually like the first 6 tracks plus Special and Avalanche.
I voted for Regret but I would've liked to be able to vote for Special as well - they're my favourite two.
Regret. World, Everyone Everywhere, and Ruined in a Day were close, along with Avalanche. The rest of the album is shite.
I probably would've been the only one voting for Times Change, but since it's not listed I'll go for Special. Regret and World always get skipped on the rare occasion that Republic gets an airing.
I voted for "World". It probably isn't the best song on the album but I never get sick of hearing it and the remixes for it are always great. Like the one on "(the rest) of New Order"
Originally posted by Tristan Jayol Chemical seemed lonely, so I voted for it
So, I assume that you know how it feels to be on the payroll company.
"Special" for me. That and "Regret" are the only songs that the band lavished much attention on, and boy does it show. Actually I would have liked to vote for the Special/Avalanche segue, but it's not an option...
"Ruined" provided my favourite ever NO remix (Ambient Mix) but the album version lacks something or other. Another album where my opinion changes all the time.
"...just before they fall apart." No question. Young Offender, Spooky, Special and Everyone Everywhere are all fuckin' excellent. It's a pop album for the masses. Every band should have one.
