After listening to the Ceremony 7" version over and over and over again (don't ask) I vote for...Here To Stay... :) blashphemy, but the version of Ceremony with Gillian is superior.

Both Ceremony 7" and Temptation 12" are up there with the greats, but Ceremony just gets my vote. The bass intro just knocked me off my seat the first time I heard it and time hasn't diluted the effect.
But Sam, I don't think I've ever heard anyone say that before. Just shows that on NOOL you get all sorts of views, people, ideas etc. and that's we love it!

Sorry, the original Ceremony does little for me...so slow (also, the MP3 I have of it is shit quality, so that may have clouded my opinion).
Temptation on the other hand, the turning point for New Order. Gotta go with that.

Are you sure you've got the right version?
The original 'rocks', it's the later (Substance) version which lacks any bite.
this one was actually pretty hard for me b/c Touched by the Hand of God, Here to Stay, and Temptation are all really great tracks!
I had to give it to Here to Stay though... I was more of a fan of the shorter version of TBTHOG than the 12"
Here To Stay's the one for me (mainly because I haven't heard any of the other ones in the list, except the two versions of BM).
Oi!! I was utterly TORN by having to make a choice between Ceremony and Temptation...
But after some thought I went with Temptation in the end. That's the song that really hooked (No pun intended) me on NO and ultimately, JD.
Now, that said, I will say that I agree 110% that the Ceremony con Gillian lacked the "Bite" of the Ceremony sans Gillian in the form of the original 7" version. THAT is a fucking GGGGGreat tune that I do not get tired of! 
I know that opinions are like poopers...and everybody has one, but I cannot fathom (Wasn't that a thread?) why some would say that Here to Stay is the best NO of all time. 
C'mon...a good tune it is, but a tad too processed for me. Know, you talk about Brotherhood having some lackadaisical singing and lyrics!!! Here to Stay blows them outta the water with what I consider to be Barney's laziest singing yet!!
Heck! Even VIETNAM was better!!!
'Course...that's just my take on it.
So...I am forced to agree with our favorite twat, Mr. Anthony Wilson that the Original Temptation 12" is the absolute lost classic of New Order.
