If you would care to invest the time to read back over the previous 6700 posts of mine, I'm sure you'd find not just a lot of positive stuff, but 25 years of experience of following these bands round and round. You might do well to take a step back and think, rather than swanning in as though you are the new Floyd Anderson. But then again, if you want to make generalisations like the ones you have on the basis of a couple of days posts, then so be it. Don't suppose you've looked at the threads offering free CDs to people, have you, or the trawling through years of archives etc.....?

Floyd Anderson is a hero to many for his lovely FTP site that hosts lots of free NO downloads. I must've missed what Tim has against him, but keep in mind that we're all cunts from time to time.

Floyd is an ok guy, I have no trouble with what he does otherwise I would have deleted this thread for a long time, as long as he is aware that the band management monitor this website once in a while and it's not a good idea to do that in public, that's fine with me...
I can't say much about this, as, hum, I've done some illegal stuff myself in the past... but the idea is to always avoid to put money out of New Order's pockets..

Tims lack of rose tinted spectacles is positive enough for me. I was attracted to this site because of its diversity of opinion, to be honest it's the only one i've joined, only got the computer in December. However, I like the pedantic types, I'm amazed at what people collect, there seems to be very little that can't be listed, I like the old versus new, I'm happy to have found some common humour between the territories if not spelling ( humor, color :) ) and I've had the opportunity to discuss weightier issues such as politics with average Americans, something I dont think I'd find anywhere else. Ole Garymac has hit the nail on the head, NOOL is full of people with their own take on the band, the serious one's and then myself and Rocket Mick. Sometimes you have to wade through the shite to get to serious points, as my esteemed colleague Mr Biznotic pointed out in another thread. But after visiting these pages for the last few years, everyone at one time or another contributes to this wonderful place. Tim is what I call a trainspotter (Tim I mean this in the best possible way....I think;) )
You name him a gig and he'll tell you the set-list almost in the correct order, I gave him 8 concerts to sort me out setlists for (cos I'm a lazy bastard and hate looking things up) and almost all of them were spot on! Apart from being English, and the fact he can't sing or dance.....he's alright

Indeed, I always thought 'prat' was a much worse to use as an insult. Amount of times I've called someone a 'cunt' and meant it in a +ve way, you wouldn't believe.

In fairness to Floyd I had a go on his server on Saturday cos I didn't have MP3's of Lamacq or Peel, and some of the dodgy remixes make interesting listening as well. Why all the official stuff is listed though is beyond me. That's just taking the biscuit somewhat. Anyways, as me and Mr Solitude know, you can pick up New Order's entire history on MP3 fairly cheaply from the Ukraine!

And I even bought Retro! and I have a promo of that one as well!
I believe mp3 is very very useful for rare out of print stuff, or to evaluate something before buying it, but in a case of a band you are a real fan to.. I mean, when there is a radio hit somewhere and I know it's the only song I will like, I don't tend to buy the record, yes I download the tune.. but if I were a real fan, I would buy the record...
I have a huge collection of CD singles because of that , and to be honest, I wasted way too much money on this.. in our days now, most mixes suck, so it's not worth the money most of the time...
Then again, I had to have all New Order ones :D

downloading these mp3's from Floyd's server do not deter me from buying CD's, in fact it's quite the opposite, it encourages me to hunt down official releases. I listened to the 316 mp3's and immediately went out to buy the dvd (511 to follow soon). If I could buy stuff like the original 7/12" ceremony or temptation on CD or in mp3's from itunes I would... Floyd rules!

Is it just me or is everyone getting a little "catty" these days? Some bad blood is building up that's gonna be let eventually (as we can see in the Julio incident).

When I log on and find this thread, set up by someone who doesn't know me from Adam and who has only been a member a week slagging me off for no reason whatsoever, I think I am entitled to have something to say back, don't you ?
I will admit that I have been down on Floyd, the reason for which was quite clearly laid out above, he's built himself up a very neat little MP3 collection by setting up a server that receives but doesn't give out. All this "gateway 2 heaven" stuff gets on my tits, and I admit that. I know I'm not alone in that either.
