Johnny Marr thinks Bernard Sumner is biggest Diva in ROCK!!!

Holy cow. I found a link to an interview with Johnny Marr on the Boomslang tour where the interviewer asks "Who is the biggest diva, Beck, Morrissey, Chrissy Hynde or Matt Johnson?"...Marr says after a very brief pause...BERNARD SUMNER! He goes on to say "the wrong kind of flowers in the dressing room set him off, he's always claiming to have written Blue Monday even though nobody cares or likes it, you're not allowed to make eye contact, refers to everybody as "his people"...I'm still laughing my ass off.

Okay....weirdness! I didn't think Johnny would've said something like that.

While I don't know either gent personally, having read interviews with each, and some funny stories (the johnny marr "ex smith" tattoo comes to mind) I imagine its a joke. Ol' J.M. and barney probably have a go at each other for laughs through the media. When barney reads it, he'll piss himself, then get down to the business of thinking up smack to talk on marr in his next interview.

I would think that this is most likely the case here. Especially when it comes to long time friends like Marr and Barney. They've been taking the piss out of each other for years!!

i totally agree. you can hear it in Marr's voice. that's what makes it so funny.

It's funny to think of Barney as a diva; imagine him getting mad at publicists, throwing fits at makeup artists. He should be one of the divas in vH1's next divas live in concert shows

The Rocket was a free music monthly that quit publishing about 3 years ago, and Nardwuar wrote a column and did some off the wall interviews with various artists.
