Your stuck with a NewOrder CD which one??

Similar to the other thread posted about how often you listen to NO but say for example your CD player got jammed with a NO CD in it which one would you most like to have stuck on repeat...?

NOT complilations ;) its gotta be an album which in your opinion captures the essence of the band.

yea Substance is a natural choice but try and be original...

Mine would be Brotherhood, yea my fave album but it really does for me capture their energy and emotive sides in tracks like paradise and as it is when it was for example.

give some more reasons as to your choice peeps!! is it the variety on the album, the mood(ie upbeat technique), or what??

All songs fit together very well on Technique, and still quite different songs. It's not too long, it doesn't end too soon. It's sad and happy at the same time. It's danceable, but I can relax to it. Some songs I skip one day, I might want to listen to another day. Sometimes just I listen to only one song, but mostly the whole album. And no song on that album is bad. They're all good.

It's perfect.

Although, I'd want to include the B-sides for the singles off Technique....

Sorry but OMD already beat you to it 20 years earlier!

I think I'd go for the 1981-82 album because of the memories it invokes of my childhood. I know its only a mini-album but 'them's the breaks'.

(Mind, if push came to shove I'd probably take a tape machine with several alternative cassettes).

Strangely enough, I won't take Brotherhood in that case but 'Substance'. I mean, there, at least, you have 12 songs !

It has to be "Power Corruption and Lies" because I was only a kid then having just discovered New Order throuh my mates at school and my sister bought me that for my 14th bIrthday in 1985 - this was when Factory issued all their cassettes in fancy boxes with inserts - and my copy was one of those.

I mean, Brotherhood always rates high (even though loads of people elsewhere don't like it so much) but then you're faced with the mad ending of Every Little Counts repeating itself every 43 minutes, then followed by the lyrical embarrassment that is the otherwise melodically fine State Of The Nation. So, it has to be a toss up between Low Life and Technique I guess. But then if one of my prized New Order CDs got stuck in my CD player I'd be BLOODY FURIOUS!! HMMMMPH!!

whoever said about OMD's organization compilation i was only 7 20yrs ago and never really been a big OMD fan to tell u the truth so was blissfully unaware of that!

the album that i would be quickest to get out by dismantling my cd player would have to be GetReady.. sure its got some gems on it but certainly not timeless like earlier stuff i dont reckon. Also wouldnt choose my cassette version (in a walkman) of LowLife simply cause its got about 300 versions of perfectkiss on it! - dont get me wrong - i love the song but.. variety is the spice of life!! ;)

I've only got one New Order C.D. so if it got stuck it would be P.C.L. which is what I would choose anyway, if you could get vinyl stuck. Maybe I could get one of those vertical Amstrad turntables that play's both sides without you getting up jobbies from the eighties that could lock my vinyl inside???

For me it has to be Technique, I was 17 and it reminds me of my first holiday abroad with me mates. Great days, where did they go?

PCL, I'm in a more recpetive mood to Blue Monday as it is. Low-life would be second (though, funny story, I actually had to fish it out of the cd player I had. I had had Low-life for less than a day and my cd player finally broke down. It wasen't stuck on repeat, though)

Don't actually own any NO albums on CD (vinyl here please, thanks), but I would pick Brotherhood. Have just never got tired of listening to that album. Technique is a very close second choice.

'James Last Orchestra does New Order Hits' This way you can have at least 20 tunes on a disc...maybe even 30 if they're two-and-a-half minutes edit...

I'll shockingly take Republic -- It was my first disc, and easily has become my not favorite, but still something rings true every time I listen to it. I fell in love with a band that changed my life thanks to this album. Nothing like recreating that feeling.

I'd have to go for Technique - it's one of my favourites and it reminds me of being in Mexico on holiday last year.
