Has anyone else noticed the uncanny similarities of New Order's 60mph and the Railway Children's Every Beat of the Heart..It appears after the second chorus I think, and the instumental part sounds eeringly like the guitar parts in Every Beat of the Heart....or is it just me...again!

I haven't noticed it actually! I also have that single by the Railway Children - it was the last thing I ever bought of theirs before I gave up on them. (It was their only hit in UK as well, number 24 or something)
I think I've flogged that 12" now, if I remember... By the way, Gary Newby has reformed the band, but with new personnel. Do people care anymore?
Sorry mate but were you bladdered when you listened to 60mph and thought it sounded like Every Of Your Heart. Good song though, did'nt it do well in the states?

The chorus is similar !!!!
This might come as a bit of a bombshell - seeing as no-one's mentioned it, but the verses to "Everything's Gone Green" are IDENTICAL to those of "Blue Monday" Note for note. Who agrees?
And has anybody else noticed how similar Electronic sounds to New Order? If I didn't know better, I would swear that was the same person singing!!!

Newby was studying Graphic Design (he did all the sleeves for the band's albums), whilst Suzanne was doing ceramics. These - quoted - were her charitable words about Mr. Newby: "I've never met such a preening poser - he's so full of himself, I've seen him walking alongside the windows of the Union Building admiring his own reflection....pretentious wanker.....he really was so far up his arse." Never a fairer word uttered, If I may say so!!

Quite - and if you want even more proof, just check out some of the record sleeves and press photos - and marvel at the deliberately "just-so" contrived poses he throws in contrast to the other three blokes in the band. (Best one: their third LP "Native Place" or is it "Native Land"?) The guy is in love with himself!!! That's why the original line-up split - they were getting pissed off with Newby hogging centre stage to the extent that the two singles taken off "Native Place" ("Every Beat of The Heart" and "Music Stop") just featured himself and his ego on the sleeve - the others conspicuous by their absence.

if all this stuff is true about gary newby, then it's too bad. i actually like the railway children stuff. i don't have a problem with him "posing" cause he's a good looking guy. if he were ugly than it would be a different story.

No, Shug, you're slightly mistaken - I DID fathom out what he wrote - I translated it when I got back from Amsterdam, the wit of the guy knows no bounds. I checked with Buster as well, and he confirmed that my translation was pretty close. So, yep, chortles all round so they say!!!
