A survey in the paper today says that Manchester is Britain's "Fattest city", closely followed by Stoke-on-Trent(!!!!!), Liverpool, Swansea and Leicester. The Derby contingent will be happy to know that the fair city of the East Midlands ranks at no.15, while the Cockney hellhole is still pretty skinny at no.22 (must be all those models keeping the average down).
So, Barney & Hooky may have piled on the pounds, but in the best liberal tradition they are PRODUCTS OF THEIR ENVIRONMENT. Not surprisingly, the academics compiling the survey accounted for the Northwest being at the top of the table by pointing to the "drinking culture" that abides oop north.
