Temptation 7 Inch on CD

A little while ago, someone mentioned a various artists compilation CD that included the original 7 inch version of Temptation (the 5:21 version). I wrote down the name of it, and have subsequently lost the bit of paper I wrote it on - anyone know of CD compilations with this version on?

Cheers, Andy.

Something Wild I think. Which was a film made in the 90's. Though I'm sure the version was edited down. I may be wrong though Andy.

Something Wild is an edit from the 87 mix I think...

It's been a while since I've listened to it though!

Correct, Mr Webmaster - well almost. The 'Something Wild' version is an edited 3:30 version of the original seven inch version, although still a rather nifty edit.

The original question still stands... Over to you lot:

I vaguely remember that thread. If the mentioned album is "The Indie Scene 1982" it DOES NOT contain the original 7 inch version of "Temptation". It's an edit of the "Substance" version and it clocks 5:56.

In a previous thread, TLV asked about a "compilation called "B.L.A.S.T. Modern Rock - Program #28", a radio promo CD issued by Pellegrino Productions (USA)" which reportedly had the original 7" version on it.

The discussion moved on and it may be that it is a bootleg, ie ripped from the vinyl. I get the impression Mr find-my-bowl whatever has this CD so maybe he could answer!

You have to upload the pictures somewhere first. Send the scans to me and I'll post them here.

But... You haven't answered the main question! Is this ripped from vinyl? How good is the sound quality?

OK, Mr. 'Brain' Eno.........I've sent you the jpeg scan to your email address.........hope it helps.

The quality of the sound is pretty good but I'm not an expert enough to be able to tell if the track is ripped from vinyl or from master tapes...probably the former cuz the track falls under the category of 'THE VINYL VAULT'

Mmm... I'm under the impression that these were CDs manufactured to make up part (or all) of the play list for a radio show, in which case they'd not have had access to any master tapes. i think I'll just have to be happy with my CD-R version recorded with Sound Forge from my Technics 1210, rather than hunt this down, pay a small fortune for it and find that my own remastering of it from vinyl is better than what's on this CD anyway - and my remasterings are pretty good quality, all in all.

I had to shrink the scans a bit, but here they are. ;)

Thanks for the scan.

Let me know if you want to trade...

I've got your e-mail with a MP3 of the said track and it's definitely ripped from vinyl, you can hear all the characteristic clicks and pops.

Maybe we should all spend our time badgering whoever is to blame for rationing the New Order back catalogue, rather than hunting around for CD copies of what (I assume) we all have on Mint condition vinyl in any case.

If someone has a London Records (or whoever) contact for this sort of thing, let's get it posted up here, so we can register our interest in those Recycle singles box sets, or equivalent.

Oh that's cool. You know I'm getting into that field right at these days. I'm trying to record into computer from the turntable (well via the amplifier). I'm very interested in a simple technology (I mean I'm not a great sound-engineer, I just want to experience with minimum devices and software to have somewhat good results personally for me).
