Just had an e-mail to my work account, concerning my line of business strangely enough. One of the cc recipients is none other than Annik Honore, I kid you not.
Fookinell !

Well, maybe you should cc a reply in which you surreptitiously quote a couple of Ian's lyrics... You know you can do it!

Of course! Do you want me to arrange a table for three in one of the local établissements? I doubt Karen will let you go on your own ![]()
Think I'll pass on that one ! Though if you can suggest a suitable location for Friday evening for a Bennylux gathering, we shall be only too pleased to benefit from local knowledge !

Yeah, I've still got to PM you, but I will definitely be there Friday night! I'll ask a friend who's a cop in Brussels to suggest a few places ![]()
You absolutely have to meet her. It's your duty as a rabid Joy Division fan to do so. Get the business arrangements done with, then say "Check this out" and peel off your collared shirt and tie to reveal a Joy Division t-shirt underneath. Actually, be much more tactful than that.
I should probably point out that this e-mail had in the region of 50 cc recipients, and the chances of me ever needing to contact said AH are very remote indeed. Even if I did, I would respect the privacy she has fought hard to keep these last 20 odd years, despite the obvious curiosity to find out what she looks like !

You're quite right. Not strictly related, but this does raise the question for me: when somebody finally gets down to writing the definitive book on JD, should he/she try to lure AH from obscurity? My personal feeling is that she is an integral part of the story.
Since I had no idea who it was, let's quote what I found:
At around this time a Belgian girl named Annik Honoré attached herself to the band and to Ian Curtis in particular. This may have happened when the band took a break from the Buzzcocks tour to perform at Plan K in Brussels (but this is not the only possible explanation, as Annik is said to have worked at the Belgian embassy in London).

My personal feeling is that she is an integral part of the story. I think when someone makes the definitive JD documentary, it'll be imperative that they drag her out of shameful hiding. Then again, I'm an asshole.

AH was actually one of the promoters at Plan K, and formed Les Disques du Crepuscule in 1980. She quit the label a year later to work for NATO, and then moved onto the European Community a few years later.

Jan, can you make it snappy (and easy) please! I'll need to print a routeplanner no matter where you choose to go. Deek and myself are no fans of any of the bigger belgian cities and Brussels in particular. Any park & ride facilities there?

Which is exactly what I will be doing, as I have said all along.

Which wouldn't have been out of place on her "Les Disques du Crappyschool".....
