"overproduced by Martin Hannett"

At the opening of the Dead Kennedys single "Nazi Punks Fuck Off," Jello Biafra says "Fuck Off--overproduced by Martin Hannett." Since that single came out in 1982, any idea why Biafra would've been having a go at Hannett? I'm not sure what bands that Hannett produced that someone like Biafra would've listened to. The Buzzcocks maybe? Joy Division?

Seems like you should have been a teenager back in the late 70's early 80's. The Cure fascination will wear thin too. Give it some time.

I've already grown out of it. But I still like listening to the classics evey now and then. As the the Cure fascination, it pales (pun intended) compared to my current fix on JD/NO.

Plastic Surgery Disasters is a classic and one of my all time faves.

Is that what he says, your excellency? Sold my copy of Nazi Punks many moons ago, along with my copy of Fresh Fruit For Rotting Vegetables, so I can't quite recall. Did, however, keep my single of Too Drunk To Fuck, for festive family singalongs during the holidays :)

My guess is that's just Jello going off on a fairly obvious target, something he's used to doing. I will give him credit, though, for his mayoral run for San Francisco, in which he came fifth out of 12 candidates, or something like that, and pulled in a sizable number of votes. One of his platform ideas was to have the businessmen in the city wear clown suits, and his best one was to have policemen run for election in the districts they served.
