www.sirendisc.com has a new New Order Radio 1 Sessions CD in their "Future Releases" section scheduled for release on April 14, 2004.

Their description is as follows:

Radio 1 Sessions, CD $21.49 Enhanced CD includes 5 tracks from 1998 plus 4 tracks from 2001. Tracks: 1.True Faith 2.Isolation 3.Touched 4.Atmosphere 5.Paradise 6.Slow Jam 7.Your Silent Face 8.Close Range 9.Rock The Shack 10.Transmission (2002 Live Video). Country: UK Release Date: 14-Apr-04

The listing also includes a small picture of the cover/artwork.

Granted there is an error on their listing for track 3, Siren Disc tends to be one of the more reliable import retailers here in the States.

We'll see...

Well, that would be cool... I guess. Aren't the first 5 tracks considered the 98 Peel Sessions?

The PETITION WORKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now only if the cd would be released for a reasonable non-import price in the states; it's time for a new petition!

You can order it directly from the source in the UK:

Pay the $21.49 to Siren. Beggars can't be choosers.

Well, the only BBC CD that was released in the States was through Fuel Records or something like that (BBC Live In Concert, Glastonbury 1987), but it was released 2 years after the UK...

So, indeed, it's expensive, but it's the price they sell it... 12 UKP = 20$ USD !!

that'a 30$ for me.. twice the price of a new CD in Canada!!

Well, by the way, now we know what was meant with "new album out next June?!"!

Excellent news, about effing time.

What is Transmission going to be I wonder, the video feed or just the audio?

EDIT, The Pinnacle site doesn't let you pre-order!!

That's bloody good news. Nice to see someone has realized there's a demand for this. Perhaps we should send a few 'thank you' emails to the record company, once this is succesfully released.

Those sessions has perhaps the best ever version of 'True Faith' on - a nice manic version of the 'Perfecto Mix', with the guitars turned up to eleven and backing vocals from Bobby Gillespie - who mixed the entire session.

One to look forward to.

nice to see these tracks coming out. the lamaq session of ysf is probally my fave version of it. now lets start a petition for a 25th aniversary box. you never know,if we start banging on about it early enough we might just might get summat better than retro. personally id like to see a box set with quite a lot of unreleased ,outakes, live stuff as well as a few new tracks. or maybe even (GASP) a couple of small venue gigs for neworderonline members only or at least advanced opportunity to get tickets ect.

Yep, this version of Your Silent Face is a stunner. Probably the best. Nice extra touches with the guitar and additional synth lines. :thumb:

Great news, but its pretty certain now that we wont be getting a NEW album in June. 2 new CDs in 2 months is highly unlikely.

Great news! But let's hope that it's not going to be (as usual) postponed, postponed, postponed and ... postponed.

and more artwork fot the PLANET ROCKET aswell.Sod the contents!

Bastard - this was my next project:nonono:

Finally got the Peel 98 tracks and the Lamacq Session was gonna join it onto CD.

I guess I will still do this for myself, but mines will have to have Love Vigilantes on it now:D

Just wondering if Strange Fruit Records have a website anywhere with information on the stuff they release? Couldn't find one in a Google search.

Pinnacle/Strange Fruit same thing. More cash to fork out - what fun.

The song was actually referred to as 'Touched' on the original broadcast.

Their website is "under contructions" for ages (if you look on the Peel Sessions album, it's strange-fruit-music.com) but anyways, any link directs you to Pinnacle.

This is great news! What with Community and (possibly) the new album, I need to have a lie down. Hopefully, this has come about partly through the petition - more power to our elbow!

Well, this is exactly the CD asked by the petition... (except I forgot Isolation on it)...

So it must mean something! They could have released 2 seperate CDs and make more money!

It's come about just after I have forked out on ACR and NO stuff on Ebay - great timing!

Does it not seem strange that only a few weeks before release that no other site has this disc for sale. Not even Amazon! :eek3:

I think I will take a miss on this one, the tracklist is full of songs I've either heard a million times (True Faith, Atmosphere) or it is songs I don't like (Slow Jam, Rock the shack). I'd be interested in hearing Touched by the Hand of God and Paradise on there but that is just about it. That's just me though.

This is better then the retro cd. The only way it could have been better is if they had the Audio version of transmision instead of the video. Just think, close range the way Barney wanted it to be! I have great copies of these songs, but still!!!

Hey Nic, how about we start a petition for a new order videos dvd! And we can send it to Rhino or whoever???

Not a bad idea...

They are basically 'live' session versions, in that they sound like practice runs for what you heard on the 98/01 tour dates, just recorded 'as live' in a studio, with subsequent mixing. Nice, energetic, spontaneous versions of all the tracks though, and minus any 'whooping' as far as I can recall!

Seconded. These are especially excellent versions of Isolation, Touched and Paradise.

Well, they are their live versions, but in studio, without any audience cheering...

So even Mike will like them :p

They aren't that live. Sure they are done as one original take, but there is all kinds of overdubbing etc done then, and I hate to think how many takes they need to do of each song to end up with 4 or 5 they can use. I know one or two bands who have done Peel sessions, it takes a full day to record a 4 song session.

Surely its better to argue about what constitutes a "live" performance for a forthcoming album when we actually know the album is round the corner, than wildly speculate on when the bloody hell an album may actually ever appear!

Andy. Oh yeah, I have an old one on vinyl which has like 586 and We All Stand and I really like it. The format is great but I'm just not crazy about the tracklisting. To each their own though, glad for those who are hyped over it

Hmm, well maybe I will give it a chance when it comes out at the store. They have listening stations. I'd probably do that anyway but we shall see

No it ain't - I've been to Maida Vale to see a live edition of the John Peel Show, and it's much plusher than that! This broadcast was made for an edition of John Peel's show (think it was his 30-year anniversary at Radio 1), and the broadcast came from elsewhere, with the live audio going out on the airwaves. It was probably their rehersal studio while they were preparing for the 'Get Ready' tour, I'm guessing.

I'd be interested to know how many of the 500+ people that signed the petition will actually go out and buy the thing, rather than burn CD-R copies or download it from the Internet!

No doubt there is overdubbing, but there's certainly mistakes still present on these versions (such as Barney coming in early with the guitar chords during the middle instrumental section of 'True Faith'), so they must have recorded these 'as live' to a certain degree, or at least have been less fussy about correcting mistakes. Don't get me wrong - I love these versions, probably because of their rougher sound and imperfect musicianship!

We've had the CDR for 5 years now, it's time to have the real thing, don't you think?

I seriously think people here don't copy New Order material, they buy it.. this is what you do when you are a real fan and when the thing is actually available to buy without being ripped off...

I am a NO fan, I have these songs in mp3's only because they were not commercially available, I signed the petition and I will gladly buy the official release, mabye even a few copies. The fact that Strange Fruit is not a member of the dreaded RIAA also helps a bit...

I didn't sign the petition (I forgot!), I have all the songs and I can burn a CDR for 1/5 price if anyone here want it. With sleeve and all.

Mail me. :D
