Basically Patty I'm teasing myself. I've listened to it soooo many times that I'm allowing my head a break. I've got literally thousands of pounds worth of NO material and was late to the CD world. As I'd collected that much vinyl I was retisant about buying it all again on CD... alas, I succumbed and now PC&L and Movement is the last items to fill my bucket... oh, and Technical Lego.

It's a bit like Joy Division... I don't have hardly anything of them but one day... I'll look forward to building that empire and enjoying its splendour.

Buster it is tricky listening to the shit in French but to be honest that's why I like it so much. I really enjoy Lady Penelope (very Penguin Cafe Orchestra) and the 1st one off on of the CD's... did you see that, that was my lack of French speaking ability in full effect.

Sorry to change the subject slightly, and I know its been through before and I took no notice of it, but I saw Taras Shevchenko advertised on HMV.co.uk for about £12. Is it worth getting ,bearing in mind I'm not exactly flush at the mo with Christmas coming up and about 8million family members to buy crappy gifts for.

Huntsy, once you get that box set of JD, theres not really much else worth buying of theirs IMO. Unless your a JD obsessive, which you aint really are you?

Well, Huntsy, I know there are many vinyl devotees, but I never liked the dust factor, so frankly I much prefer the CD world. But I do remember many times in record stores looking wistfully at all the NO 12 inch singles that were simply not available oc CD.

Well, there's no lyrics in French on 'Lady Penelope'. In fact, there's no lyrics at all as it's almost instrumental... :)

Is this an observation you've made snake... that I'm not a JD obsessive?... I'll say this much, 'Decades' makes me weak at the knees and the entire 'Closer' album makes me glad I'm alive.... if not just to get so utterly depressed listening to it. I absolutely adore the original 12" of 'She's Lost Control' for the noticeable difference in bass drum sound... almost as dancey as some later New Order stuff. I believe the production on some of the JD material was far more sophisticated than early NO stuff.. figure that one out as NO were 'after' this event?... Martin Hannet was a genius, an absolute god.

The main reason why I don't bang on about JD so much in here is because it is a NO website... okay?

As for the box set... sounds good, are you talking 'Heart and Soul' here?

RE: Taras Shevchenko... its shite, you'll only watch it for the curious fact that they actually released it when they could have picked far better gigs. My advice would be to ask Santa for a cheapo DVD player (as there all the same anyway) from Hasdas and get 3:16... which, even more curiouser, has Taras Shevchenko on just for a laugh!!!

For me though, who is an obsessive, I wouldn't rest until I had all of the originals.

... they are 'all' in my loft and occassionally I go and look at them. So many memories, so many pocket monies, so much part-time work spent on the boys. I love it and don't regret a moment. Tell you what Patty, the CD's are fucking wank. Take Low Light, abandoned the original typefaces all together for the track listing?... I mean, come on.

My favourite thing to do is sniff my USA Mini-album. Tell you something which is sad... Whenever I bought a 12", I cleaned it before and after playing, only touched the cover with a duster and kept them all in PVC covers.

Nice.

PS I'd just like to say I have about '12' EGG " singles with different coloured covers....

Apologies Hunter, as you said you rarely bang on about the JD, and I therefore wrongly assumed you weren't that big a fan. Personally I do like JD a lot, Closer particuarly, but they never affected me in the way NO have

It was Heart and Soul I was talking about - an excellent collection.

Hey Seb I wasn't looking for an apology... occassionally I think to myself, someones going to mention that I never mention JD and it never happens... until now. I can rest easy now big fella.

I'm interested to learn that JD haven't affected you as much or in the same way as NO... personally, I think the two groups combined can have major affects on how I feel. Closer hits the spot I absoultely adore it... however many other NO songs 'I adore' are spread around many albums. I can put Closer on and drift off..... aahhhhh, look see, I'm off...............

I might bang 'Heart & Sausage' on me Christmas list after your recommendation Seb Snake... It would save me scouring for CD's around His Masters Voice...

I know what you mean Hunts, If Closer had been a NO album it would have been the best. I find all the NO albums have their weakspots, even my beloved Technique (ie Fine Time, Guilty Partner), Closer hasn't.

I did find Unknown Pleasures, dare I say it, a little over rated.

With NO, I could list you 50 or so songs which I absolutely fuckin love, a song for every occasion, JD, one album + a few off UP and a few singles. Hence why NO affect me more strongly.

On the JD subject, I rarely listen to them.

I mean, it's because I was a fan of New Order that I went to JD. Very impressive but so much less moving to my heart.

So, Huntsy, how am I supposed to know the type-face on the track-listing on Low-Life was changed? I never owned any NO on vinyl; when I first started listening to them I bought cassettes. If we're going to talk about track listings, I much preferred the one on the promo of GR: 2-2-2-2-2. By comparison, 3-3-2-2 is so ugly. And I really hate the track listing on Brotherhood. As I've said before, the problem I have with JD is the vocals; and then people say his voice was artificially deepened. It's the deepness I don't like.

I know what you mean Pastie, the first time I heard Ian I thought it was an old bearded bloke singing out of key... permanently. Then I thought, shit no that's cool... his singing shit is good. Same as Barney really however now he rarely faulters... mmm... all these points can be argued. I listend to JD and Ian's voice makes the songs sound like massive stone sculptures.

If you haven't got the original vinyl covers your fucked mate. I know its easy for me to say but the CD's are shite (no offence)... sometimes nothing like as carefully crafted as the vinyl. Them days are gone Patty, I wouldn't ponder it. Incidentally, the typeface on the CD version of Low Lite is a default typeface used when a printer hasn't received the correct information (courier)... I wonder if they issued it with this horrible cock-up and couldn't be arsed changing it.

I'm sure you'll empathise with me as I've just discovered the inner sleaves of my Crystal mixes don't match,I'm sure they did when I got them Still, I shouldn't have left them lying around where they could be tidied up.

Actually, Huntsy, now that I think about it, without having them in front of me, it seems like the track list type-face on the PCL CD is worse than Low-Life.
