Factory All Stars

Just received a nice bit of TV anthology through the post from Mike Garrity (though a bit grainy in parts!) of NO's appearances on the tele.

I had seen most of the stuff before (though I never recorded it myself) but there was one segment that features various members of Quando Quango, 52nd Street, ACR and Bernard performing Cool as Ice, Shack-up, Confusion and Love Will Tear Us Apart featuring bongos and sax. Confusion has Donald Johnson singing and a rapper as well.

Can anyone tell me what TV programme this was, where it was recorded, who the female backing singers are and who sings LWTUA?

The backing singers are Gillian lookalikes and you get a great view of a punk with pink hair in the crowd as well. There must be about 20 people on stage.

There is something from the Hac - As it is and Sunrise being performed - but this seems to be different from the All Stars.

Great view of the crowd for Sunrise though...and they look so young!

One of two sets played that evening.

The edition of The Tube referred to previously also showcased the UK TV debut of Madonna.

Also featured was a brief interview with Anthony H. Wilson & Hooky (pint in tow).

Now how f****** sad am I????

Not as sad as me for knowing that it was actually Whistle Test not The Old Grey Whistle Test and it was also the night before my mock Maths O Level

Anyway, where can I get hold of this stuff and in what format is it ?

Talking of the very fine Quando Quango has got my brain ticking again - I know Simon Topping and Mike Pickering (pre T-Coy / M-People - he likes his initials does our Mike) played a major part in this, but is Barry Johnson - their bass player - related to Donald and Denise (from ACR) ?? I think he was. And whatever happened to the delightful female vocalist who played on their LP: Gonnie Rietveld (Dutch origin, by the look of the name) ?? Anyone recall her whooping vocals on "Go Exciting"!!??

Simon Topping...my isn't he tiny! Even compared to Bernard.

Watched the rest of the vid last night. I originally thought that it was an inflatable dolphin at the Big World Cafe but in fact its a penquin!

The illumious skeleton is clearly visible as well but towards the back.

Couldn't spot my self in the crowd though...

I have a very early 7" that I quite like and that's called "The Bottom Line"
