And I don't want to offend all these half witted English fans who cannae take a good natured bit of banter and resort to throwing silly taunts back about Scotland being shite.
If Thompson is selected (which he probably won't) I'll cheer England on to the Final and then hope to see them gubbed. If he's not picked a first round exit would be nice.

The England squad has suffered in the past 10 years for one reason. Automatic Selection.
Owen. Beckham. Heskey. Neville. Campbell. etc...
These players,and others ALWAYS make the 22,its like the manager says i`ve got them now who else can i pick? If Owen was playing shite,he would STILL be chosen over say Vassell or Smith.
We need to pick the best player for the situation-not the one with the highest profile.

Owen is your best striker by a distance imo. A scoring record of a goal every two games is pretty impressive in international football. Vassell + Smith are hardly prolific.

Owen is also Englands penalty taker-and in his career hes missed more than hes scored. Vassell & Smith dont get the chance to shine-thats the point im making. Beattie deserves a go too,& lets face it-IF they could talk Shearer round,Owen would be second fiddle then. Im not knocking Owen,but relying on him constantly is a mistake.
