Hear quite a bit of references to "wedgies" when listening to '85 era tapes. I assume that refers to the small speakers placed in front of the musicians used to monitor one's sound...and were called such due to their shape, just like the JD-era "foldbacks" were.

Yes, wedge-shaped foldback monitors so the band can hear themselves playing. Very useful !!

That's what I first thought, too. Made me wonder how exactly such a practice would relate to New Order...unless maybe it was Barney sustaining a wedgie after falling down onstage or something like that...fishing around onstage between songs for his renegade undies.
