... and why?

the album version always seemed "lazy" and underacheiving to me (like most of Republic except "Regret")... maybe that is unfair, but the cliched female vocals still irk me. really overall, an uninspired production of a potential very good song.

the remix actually TRIES to remake the song and make it a better New Order pop song, and does give it more energy, without sacrificing the emotion of Barney's vocals. its a better produced effort overall, and a well done watering-down of house ideas for a more pop audience.

World in one of my favourite NO tracks and the album version is sublime (not that arse radio edit though :nonono: )

Ooo...both I think are very very good. I think "World" is among some of the best New Order songs but I went with the Perfecto mix because it is one of the few remixes that stays true to the original feeling of the song. "World" to me gives a certain feeling of relaxation and warmth and the Perfecto mix builds on that giving a unique twist and tempo to it.

I think both versions are brilliant, but the Perfecto Mix just has the slightest edge over the album version

When I first heard this song, I actually thought World was one of the crappiest song N.O ever wrote. I thought it was easy, lazy and boring. Until I heard the Perfecto Mix and then I became a HUGE fan of this mix. It actually cant even be compared because the Perfecto Mix is what this song should have been from the beginning. It's catchy, powerful and one of the most memorable dance track N.O ever done. Thanks to Paul Oakenfold and Steve Osborne.

Personally I prefer the album version, nothing wrong with the Perfecto mix as it's one of the best remixes the band have had done for them.

I clearly remember the first time I heard the perfecto remix... I received a call from Sébastien he said "Switch to MusiquePlus!!!!!!" (french version of MuchMusic)...

I switched, and the "Buzz Clip" of the week was New Order's World !! and what the hell was that version !!!!!

No wonder why it went to #1 in the Billboard Dance Chart, this is probably the best enhancement of a New Order track by any remixer :)

(I'm not a fan of World)

And hum, the video with the album version is a disgrace ;) Still wonder how come that video can only be found on New Order's collectable, I've never seen anything else than the Perfecto Remix on the video on our side of the pond.

New Order should have used that one live, like they did with True Faith... (not that I think they should use the Perfecto True Faith though)

There was a Best Of Perfecto Album on Ebay recently... some good tracks on there :thumb:

The Perfecto Mix of World is far superior IMO, I love the long intro and the trancey feel that this mix brings to the song. I also prefer the World In Action Mix to the album version, almost makes me

The Perfecto mix is fuckin shite. I despise it,all the World remixes were terrible. My least favourite single.

Perfecto feels like the way World was meant to be but didn't quite make it in time for the album release.

My enhanced CDr of Republic has this version of World on it. It takes the original and enhances it without completely changing it. (Similar to Run2 on my Technique CDr.)

I had to say the album version. The Perfecto Edit seems like simply the Perfecto Mix cut half-assed in the middle of the song. The Perfecto Mix on the other hand is superb.

I am pretty sure World is in my top 5 NO tracks!

... can you feel it!
