Are New Order better without Gillian?

)Personally, I prefer the 4 lads. I'm not gay or ought. I think the music sounds a lot better with a proper geetar player, obviously no offence aimed at Gillian. He's alright on the keyboards an all is oor Phil.
Does he play geetar?
I've said it plenty of times on here, I thought the Liverpool gig was the best "Sound" I had ever heard at a gig (Admittedly I have only done 10 since 89) a wee bit pished aff that the bootlegs don't do it full credit. Gillian was never a fan of playing live anyway, and we all want to see em live again, plus Barney and Hooky seem to have a good craic slagging Mr Cunningham;)
i really dont know if there better without her or with her...think about it, they would of been a changed of style and sound to all there music is gillain never was there in the first place....like lisitin to Get Ready compared to like...other ones it would be different...
The question is, what does Gillian bring to New Order, what was her impact on New Order's music...
Honestly, as all track are "written by New Order", it's very hard to know what she did! We might have an input on Dream Attack, but is it true?
And let's face it, the weakest side-project is The Other Two... I'm not convinced Stephen & Gillian could do a solo career of their own...
Course New Order aren't better without Gillian. The current N.O is painfully average, sometimes I think they'd have been better off splitting up again after 'Get Ready' (a good album, but you know it would have been 50 times better w/ Gill's contributions), & reverting back to silly little side projects that noone really cares about COUGHMonacoCOUGH

I don't think it's ever been stated that Gillian had nothing to do with Get Ready, has it? The only official line about her absence was in about March/April 2004 to say she wasn't going to be touring the US (although she actually was with the band for that one) and that Billy Corgan would be with the band instead. Certainly no mention of her not having aided on Get Ready. I actually asked her at Heathrow Airport after the US gigs if she was going to be appearing at the Robbie Williams gig in Cologne the following weekend and she said she wasn't sure. I think most people, me included, initially expected her to actually return at some point, but a few more gigs later, we all finally started to accept she weren't coming back.
I don't think it's ever been in doubt though that she 'did' have something to do with Get Ready, Here To Stay and the likes of Brutal, though how much input she had we'll probably never know.
Al is right, Gilian was involved in Get Ready.. the upcoming album would be the first one as a trio.
Plus, nobody can deny YET that it's not Gillian doing backing vocals on Someone Like You...

nobody will stand up and take credit for those backing vocals ... hard to believe 
FUCK NO! The band had something magic with her, regardless of her songwriting/playing skills
Without her, it seems New Order are looking to become a Stooges/Velvet Underground tribute band with a bunch of paunchy 50 year olds 
If it comes to that, I agree w/ Tim that they should've pulled the plug after Technique and quit while they were ahead.
well for me new order will always be with gillian in the band,they can bring in who ever they like to play whatever bits ect,but id bet a bazillion quid that she could walk into any session and say "oooh id like to play that bit" and id bet she would.
the only reason gills not been involved live is because of family comitments and whos to say shes had no imput into the new album???.
after all thay do rehearse at steves and i cant belive that its just the 3 of em,can u picture the scene .
they are rehearsing or writing a new tune and need a 4th or 5th player.

I liked it with Gillian in the band, and I certainly think that Get ready was a far better album than Technique... but then again, I've been a fan alot longer than most of the kids here... *lol*

I think Technique is New Orders best album. Get ready was awful and embarrassing, except for Crystal, 60 MPH, and Viscious Streak.
Not sure if I can determine exactly what she brought to the band...but I know it was something. And I'd like nothing more for the band to be the "original" four members again.
No way are they better. I just can't get used to her not being there behind her keyboard, they just don't look right on the stage without her. I miss her......... Phil is good but he looks like he is in the wrong band.
reality check... New Order is 15 years past their salad days... whatever decent songs they manage to put out at this point will be judged by a lower standard and may be met with general disinterest by non-fans. hard to tell what Gillian would be bringing to the table at this point anyway... just hope the guys have some fun and just get back to being a band and stop worrying about egos and charting... and maybe they will make something interesting i hope
