Unimaginative names

I once read an interview where Gillian once spoke about how New Order liked to be different when it came to naming their songs - many of their tracks are titled with little or no influence from the lyrics in the song. I noticed this changed with Get Ready, in which almost all of them were named with lines from the songs. Why? Please stop me if I'm being a sad case.

don't know why they have changed their philosophy but it sure makes life easier. I've had to index four discs the other day and had to resort to the song browser on NOOL just to doublecheck I got the correct titles on some of them especially the Low Life/Brotherhood tracks are a problem for some reason isn't that sad? I blame the hormones :D

I like the old "nothing to do with the song titles". But they still throw a few odd ones about.

Brutal. Sabotage. and the best of the bunch, Get Ready.

Regret, Run, Love Vigilantes, World, Temptation, Blue Monday, True Faith, Bizarre Love Triangle and I'm sure there are loads loads more.

I thought the last wave of song titles were the crappest they've ever come up with, especially Slow Jam and Rock the Shack. They were so not New Order. And the album title was a bit of a dud as well, worst yet.

But really, Rock the Shack? This is the sort of thing I'd expect from, I dunno, The Kings of Leon or someone. Perhaps they should get back on the gear when they're choosing titles.

I remember reading that Steven was responsible for many of the choice titles. They'd all sit around and throw cool sounding words together, often completely unrelated to the tone or subject matter of the song. This was fine by me.

I think they should start naming the songs after the creative process that inspired them. "Ecstasy," for example, would be a choice name (though a bit anachronistic, given when the song came out). Chemical is another fitting example. Fine Time could be called "Acid Freakout with Sheep."
