i found this shop near my house that sells 2nd hand records, and i spotted a box under one of the racks of records that had 12' written on it, so i bend down and get under this rack or records and pull out this dust covered box, and to my delight i discovered it had about 20 NO vinyls all in perfect condition ranging from about $10-$15 each (3.65 - 5.50 pounds or 5 - 7 US dollars) im going back to clean the place out this afternoon, boy am i one happy camper

For god's sake, where abouts, man? We need to compare notes, Mitch - I picked up a perfect vinyl copy of the "Radio Order" boot at a crappy local market for $2.00! Where's this shop?? CTD

well ive got every single NO record in the place sitting behind the counter with $50 and instructions not to sell so...but for future reference it "record collector" in the city, or a similer name not totally sure, its opposite "off ya tree"

cool - know the one. Any 7" there?

i didn't see any 7' but you never know, there is so much good stuff in there you never know what you might find, i suggest looking in "out of the way" places, like in boxes underneath things and on shelves above ect

While we're on Australian stores, can anyone recommend decent collectable record stores in Brisbane or Sydney?

I've just bought my BDO tickets for Perth, Gold Coast and Sydney!!! It's gonna be a hell of a fortnight come late Jan.. Would've loved to do Melbourne also but the wallet only opened so wide.. Still hoping for extra dates however.

jesus 3 BDO's thats my life long dream just about, should have done melbourne instead of sydney, sydney people are wankers, perth and gold coast will be awesome though

Hey, watch it!Mitch. I think Melbournites are snobs... BTW better to visit Sydney BDO because if you look at those dates...it seems like we are having a lenghty break between Gold Coast & Sydney...What does this means? It means very-very high chance we'll see NO in many other dates in Sydney between 20th & 26th January....yippee!!!

Guess it was only a matter of time until a Sydney/Melbourne fight flared up.. I'll sit on the fence- born in Sydney but spent most of my life in Melbourne..

;)

Judging by the dates, Sydney would appear to have a better chance of NO-only dates.. I'm not holding my breath- Barney appears content to stick to routines these days.. Set dates, set playlists, etc.. Hooky would tour till the cows come home.

Okay, so are you guys holding your breath hoping that Gillian will be there???

Ive got a question for all the aussies who live in Melbourne. Where is the BDO going to take place? I cant find it on my Lonely Planet Guide plan of the city!!! I bought my plane ticket, ordered my BDO ticket online (thinking about it, i should book some nights in a Youth hostel asap too !!!) but i cant find this Melbourne place where the show is supposed to take place. how long does the festival last? one day, i guess but does it start very early in the morning? What time does it finish? Is it very far awy from the center of the town? how many stages are there? What are the interesting australian bands to see? I wanna see Machine Gun Fellatio (i am sorry to admit I like "Unsent Letter"), what about the others? Thanks a LOT for all the infos, guys.

It takes place at the Royal Melbourne Showgrounds which is only 2 or 3 train stops from the city (Flinders Street Station), goes for one day only, normally starts at around 11am and finishes at about 12:30 - 1:00 am. You can look at the site, www.bigdayout.com for a full listing of the bands, may i recommend some good aussie bands, Spiderbait, Gerling, Regurgatator, Somthing for Kate, Eskimo Joe, John Butler Trio...

Some general info, every year its always 35 degrees celisus, which is damn hot i might add.

They run (or have in the past, don't know this year after last years tragic events) 2 main stages which are right next to each other , the bands alternate between, so they set up one stage while the other is playing and then stright onto the next act on the other stage with only about 5-10 mins in between.

Then they have the boiler room, which is a huge dance tent, and there there is another smaller stage that smaller normally local acts play on and then there is the lilypad stage, which personally i don't see the point of, its just this tiny stage off the side of a path on the way in??

I can never find rare NO/JD material in Sydney. Can anyone tell me where I can find some?

Francois: If I was going to recommend three Australian acts to catch at the BDO, I'd go:

Gerling Regurgitator Something For Kate / Magic Dirt

But that's just me.

Barney's Love Child: I wouldn't be surprised if Gill was a no-show given the condition of their child.. Disappointing but understandable..

Candus, why aren't you getting involved in this cosy little down under forum.. Up to your neck in dinosaur bones and cro-magnon man..???

Thanks guys, i hope i will meet you there!

You lucky bastards!! I wish you all the patience of a siant and after that some good NOconcerts down under!!:smoking:

Also Shihad, Eskimo Joe and Infusion. They're pretty cool bands too. Should be an awesome event. I still hope NO do some private shows though.

Jesus Depthy, calm down son - I'm back. And who's a cheeky bastard for stealing my smilie, eh? I refuse to participate in the whole Sydney v Melbourne debate, mainly because Sydneysiders are wankers and have shit weather (oops). I have been away on a field trip, but no, not involved in any Cro-mag fossil digs yet - not really any point when I see living ones on the train to work every morning. CTD

Yeah...really scaring,uh?

If we really beat them 4-0, I think Farina & co. might be held hostage over there...then Howard will have to ask Bush for a return favour and shift the whole operation from Kabul to Montevideo....Make no mistake, DUB'YA owes us a big favour....
