60mph or S.L.Y

Can anyone tell me which of these two songs will be released in Australia next and when?

I'm assuming 60mph as we usually get the same releases as the UK.

might do that if i can find a contact number..

My guess would be 60 mph- it's receiving a lot of airplay now on JJJ.. Certainly, Warner AU would be keen to get some new product into the market with the live shows coming up.. Candy TD has a contact with Warners, perhaps he can do some digging- the dog that he is..

I maintain that 'Turn My Way' would go down well in Aus- we traditionally have more of a guitar rock / indie marketplace and the Pumpkins have always been big here..

Will SLY be an actual single anywhere??? I understood it was more of a limited dance/club promo issue.. I picked up my vinyl copies last week and after one listen I can't say they particularly thrilled me.. Nothing as upfront as the Lee Coombs Crystal shaker..

Well, I always feel guilty, Huntsy, but I don't actually remember saying anything to get your hopes up on this particular point.

I think you suggested the 60mph remix was meant to be a good'un...no word on this as yet from anyone. Haven't heard em yet but I don't hold out a great deal of hope for the SLY remixes, especially as I don't paricuarly like the original.

I daren't post today because I fear I might wake someone up. Its very quiet isn't it...?

I'm sure that somebody (and I thought it was you Pats) was saying that the SLY re-mixes were good... and I fell for it again even though I ought to know better. Sos if I've re-mixed you up with another fettler... probably snake man as he digs a few mixes (hopefully that will intise the snake from out of his pit).

I have a slightly humorous anecdote that occured after I last posted to you on Friday night Patty... so we're getting things ready for this party and I'm writing down directions of how to get there whilst me bird packaging a gift and some wine etc. etc. - all dressed up we set off at approx. 62mph and end up all over the world trying to find me birds mates new house where the party was. Anyway, took us ages but we finally got there and parked up outside. Tapped on the door and we could hear music so we let ourselves in.... all spik and span for the night of pleasure. Oh dear, when we walked in the bloke was making toast and the lass was in her pyjamas watching the tele. Erm, where's the party?... you mean, the party tomorrow night?... oopps! I fucking nearly pissed myself.

Anyway the very next day I took my shower radio back to the shops because it just broke out of the blue monday and I put some new batteries in it and it still wouldn't work. I storms up to the counter and clearly stated I would like a replacement. Up comes the big cheese manager and snatches out of my hands and starts to put some new batteries in it... bastard I thought, I've done all that. Sure enough he clicks power on, hands me the radio back and asks me to go on my way.

All in all it was a good weekend.

On top of that I set the video (on Friday night) to record Band of my Brothers and when we came back in (early) I'd programmed it to go off tonight (the 19th) instead of Friday... the 16th.

I've still not really woken up after the weekend yet. I went to see Funk D'void DJ a fortnight ago, and Futureshock on Friday, and neither played any tune that sounded anything like SLY. Therefore if their not even playing their own mixes I expect they're either shit, or bare no resemblance to the original tune.

I did see a couple of attractive lesbians getting off which each other on friday night though, so that made up for it.

It is true, Seb, that I said I thought other people had said the David Kahne remix of Sixteen Miles a Century was good; but now that I've actually heard it, it's worthless. It's scarcely distinguishable from the album version, and to the extent it's different, it's not better.

About the SLY remixes, I remember asking whether anybody had heard them and were they any good; that's the closest I got to commenting on them.

Well boys I saw the 50Kmh video the other day and I must say its one (if not the best) NO video to date... I love it. P parties are wank... I'm the one always in the kitchen at them, sniffing for rats and escaping talking to a load of loud mouthed arse holes who think they rule the earth like our dinosaur cousins. After much ale is consumed (I don't drink much) it gets worse and I always end up pushed against the fridge listening to someone bang on about how he or she can run faster than an ostrich or bicen.

I noted your concern for Jeff Whitey and his Feds mix-up... poor Patty, paranoid android with a guilty partner conscience. As regarding 60mph, it's out today on 3 formats, the DVD has the video, the single edit and Sabotage. CD1 has the edit, Sabotage and a mix by Techno outfit Funk D'void. CD2 has one 60mph remix and a couple more SLY mixes, again I imagine in a Techno/Trancey theme.

PUt it this way, my palms aren't exactly damp in anticipation at the remixes, and as you are well aware I normally go in for that sort of music

A.I.; i did indeed get to see it on your recommendation. I thought the film was OK, until the bear came in. And what a bear. Superb.

Bears are excellent. I even shamed myself by buying a copy of 'National Geographic' because it had a Grizzly on the front cover, with a salmon in its mouth. I also went to Whipsnade Zoo coz it had bears there, and used up about half the camera film picturing them, when my bird wanted to save all the shots to use on holiday.

Having similar taste as whatthefuckyoulike I'd agree with whatthefuckyoulike that these remixes aren't likely to set the world in motion,Probably as they chose two of the worst songs on the album to put out.Would you agree whatthefuckyoulike ?? P.S. I still think sick boy suits you better than whatthefuckyoulike and it's quicker to type than whatthefuckyoulike.

Snake I'm pleased to hear you went to see Artificial Insects... I did warn you that it wasn't brilliant, instead, just intriguing. I've heard the book is a belter and without the Schpiel-Burglar overtly nicey nicey ending... I mean, just what the fucking hell was going on with them aliens made of pure schmaltz? ... great story though and that bear, that bear.... bloodey heck it was fantasmagorical. I want one for Christmas. What's the betting a sub-film, cartoon series type thing gets released with that critter in the starring role. Did you dig the bits where the AI fettlers were waiting to get pelted with tomatoes?... I felt sorry for the little muesli lovers... especially that 'awld one who looked like he was programmed to do the gardening... in 1827!

Great news about your devout following of the animal, the bear. Great critters it must be said... I wouldn't mind one as a guard dog at our house. It could bite a burglars arm off if he tried to rifle things out of our cup-boards. I'd probably feed it on smoked salmon, which is an idea I've got from your mention of the National Geo front cover. We get that rag here so we can utilise the scenery in designs... I'll have to check on the bear one.

The Fire Island Regrettable Cirumstances re-mix was indeed superb. I'd have to re-affirm that it was technically still within the 'good old days' arena.

... yes, and they weren't too bad. They were on the 'edge' of filth managing to grasp on the ledge with all their might. If re-mixes had got better these would have gone unnoticed, as it is, they nosedived and the argument about that particular crossover moment will be fiddled with for infinity.

I probably don't want to know your dark side P... after all, Luke discovered his father obliterated entire planets... which surely wasn't right.

god i hope this doesnt degenerate into a trip down a ruined digpak lane... them sly and robbie remixes were atrocious! the trancey one and the reunited mix were the only half decent mixes of that track.

Confusion rules the remix roost for me tho ;)

Well, I haven't done anything like obliterating planets, Huntsy. The principal victim of my mistakes has been me.

I'm not claiming to have liked all the Spooky remixes; some of them were dreadful, but some I thought were pretty good.

As far as the World remixes are concerned, for me they are the brightest thing about the whole 1993 project.
