If you put all bands into four divisons and there league position being decided on amount of fans, chart positions, influence and general coolness were would the order be. I reckon they would be a top half premiership team, maybe a musical Charlton Athletic, not the biggest, but can mix it with the big boys and people are finally getting into them!

Everton played a home league game in front 13,667 fans. Just before that peak in the mid 80's attendances were down to less than a 20,000 average for the season in 1984. Again supporters deserted in droves in the early 90's, just managing to get over an average of 20,000 in 1993.
Or could New Order be the musical Manchester City. Loads of loyal fans who follow them all over the place, prone to making crazy mistakes, sleeping giants, seen as the real or original team (band) from Manchester, Blue Moon (stolen from South Cheshire) is City's Blue Monday, on there day can be world beaters, on another can be pure dog shite!!

Promise yes, deliver no. Not when dickheads like Colin Harvey screw up a good thing.
Reasonable support but when all you see is shite week after week motivation to go is difficult. Be interesting to see if the 'Anfield faithful' would stick with their team stuck at 17th.
1985-1988, just a purple patch & good cup run in '95.
So in theory if New Order call it a day after the next album Everton will be in the first division. Match of the season..Tranmere v Everton wahey!!

That was then..this is now. In the current climate and with peoples attitudes and the rising overpricing of season tickets I believe a drop would ensue. Bear in mind we're talking about a team high in the table to a team lowest in the table.
In any case in the 50's, say to the 70's there were real football fans who would watch both LFC & EFC just for the sake of watching a match on a Saturday. I used to watch both myself in 70's it just so happened my allegiance though was with the Blues.:)
The year after Liverpool last won the title we (Crewe Alex) played them in a League Cup tie at Anfield. The gate was 18,000, 5000 of which were from Crewe. Now I know that a match against us ain't quite a glamour tie, but that was still a poor turn out from the then Champions. United or Arsenal and a few others would pull a hell of a lot more than 13,000 home fans for a league cup tie against lower opposition.

United I'll give you, Arsenal no, we've had consistantly higher attendances than them in all competitions.
33,000 against Bolton this year for our only home league cup game. Arsenal's highest gate was 31,000 for a semi against Boro.
And the Leeds chairman Gerald Krasner could easily be mistaken for Compere extroadinaire Mr Alan Wise

New Order are the 'Oldham Athletic' of the music industry.
They normally seem to hover around doing precious little.
They have occasional glimpses of success, although without being world-beaters.
They've had their day.
I wonder if they are like my team (Werder Bremen) who seem to achieve a premiership every 15 years or so?
