How do I go about getting myself off this site?

Mention the word "fuck" several times, then really lay into someone innocent, add a few more expletives - that should be good for a warning, then try replying with "fuck off" - I haven't tried this theory yet - but it'll be interesting to see how you get on:lol:

Thanks Shug, I would try that, but my vitriol would only be directed at just one person. I think they know who they are, but I am sworn to secrecy. Besides, that is not the reason why I want to leave this site, but that's another story.

I'd also like to leave in a similar way as to the way I joined - ie. of my own free will, and without causing any harm or distress to anyone else.

I have no axe to grind (mainly cos I don't own one), I'm just bored of this whole New Order cliquey silliness which prevails over 99% of this message forum..

Ok, I'm off to smoke the largest spliff I can possibly roll :hat:

No problem Mr Monster, I think it's the cliquey siliness that keeps me going:lol: enjoy yer spliff :smoking:

Cheers Shug.

Each to their own is what I sometimes say - most people on here love the way the message boards have gone. I think otherwise, but then I usually do.

Instead of complaining all the time, why don't you suggest what you think would improve this board? What is your vision of the site?

Personnally, I skip a lot more messages than I used to do because half of them are usually cocktail partys between Huntsman, Muffy, Shug, Liv, etc.... and not only are they rarely about New Order, but they are always very very "Brit-centered".

But I don't care much now since so many people seem to be enjoying it!

And this is not a critic of any sort of the people mentionned above (I like these guys!), it's just that I can't relate to the discussions, and I think, based on my empiric conclusions, that it's the case for most North Americans on this board.

Seb, I'm not here to help make this site any better than it already is - i'll leave that upto other people. all i did was request to leave the site. as for my vision of the site; well, to be honest i'm not that bothered, but i know it doesn't include me. i only came here cos i loved New Order. And now, this message board resembles almost everything else apart from New Order- this is the main reason I want out. i have other message boards i can go on if i wanted to read endless meaningless drivel the likes of which is posted on here a lot these days. Ok, rant over, i'm off to bed, g'night

I sort of feel the message boards are heavily off topic but it is sometimes amusing to read the thoughts of other sad neworder obsessed people around the world. I tried to start a thread about non neworder lyrics but it sort of fizzled. I think the message boards should be seperated into neworder related and Off Topic. perhaps then we would know which topics to check when we want to discuss the band. To Hooky Monster: Do you subscribe to Ceremony? Read the posts dating back to 89 for some real new order discussion. no badgers or boy bands mentioned.

Separate them would be very difficult, Brian, when you consider the number of NO-related threads that have deviated to non NO-related.

But in the same time, I guess it's kind of always NO-related since it's true NO fans discussing...

How much can you possibly say about NO? This board often helps me get through particuarly shit days at work with its 'drivel'

HM, by the way, I've always been interested to read any comments that you've put on previously.

Well I suppose I'm guilty of posting things other than New Order, it was never meant to be destructive. Personally to extract the pure juice of a New Order fan you have to delve beneath the initial and predictable banter... which is what I find interesting. Its difficult to comprehend why there are so many complaints when people go 'off-topic' when, it seems, 'everybody' does it... including Sebsy the web fettler (yes, many times I've noticed this). Surely this is a community where free and roaming topics centred around the band are welcomed despite how much they skew?... its the 'other' elements of a fan that makes this 'fan based chat room' so entertaining.

I feel a bit like a scapegoat sometimes, my name is always mentioned when someone has a moan and its starting to make me feel like I should be the one backing off and setting my sail elsewhere. If you actually analysed the whole picture you might notice that El Jarvo always bangs on about footy, Liv's usually attempting to mentally extract someones underpants, Muffy digs his bitch etc. etc. - to me, this is what keeps the community going, Snake's right, there are only so many topics you can cover relentlessly... surely some light relief is acceptable... after all, you don't have to read it.

... Anyway I have friends external of this site who like New Order and sometimes we discuss 'other issues'... without this there can be no dynamic New Order talk. Imposing rules on this site to restrict banter 'off-topic' will stifle the creative process. Perhaps a chat room full of robots is what some people are after... perhaps Kraftwerk.com is where you seek?

I'm totally with Huntsy on this one.

And about the Huntsman himself, although it's not my language, I feel like, even on the most trivial subjects, he always does it with style.

I said this to the guy before : he should write books or something.

And he's so efforlessly funny.

I mean, even if it's not NO-related, it's always good litterature. And when the Huntsman is onto NO-related subjects, it's always meaningful and really sensitive.

We should all be glad to have the honour to have a Huntsman posting here.

And finally, the fact that we speak so many subjects means only one thing : although we're sooo much into New Order, we're still very open-minded.

Well, maybe we should rank the songs on GR, how about that for a novel topic? I'm not volunteering to tabulate.

Patty, thats a very 'British' sarcasm your displaying there

So, Huntsy, you let yourselves in. Does that mean you had a key, or was the door unlocked?

Don't message boards always evolve in this type of way.

Surely it would be boring to discuss NO all the time?!

I've enjoyed it on here, though I don't contribute alot, but I've met a few people, had a few pints and seen the Order with people from the site.

The more 'surreal' stuff posted on here cracks me up as well....

Huntsman, don't you dare leave this place!! Why should anyone feel guilty about what they post here? The common ground between us all is New Order and as has been said, there are only so many ways you can have the same conversation before it becomes stale. It's the off-topic bantering and canoodling that keeps this place going until the next 'event' comes along and if some people don't like that then so be it, that's their choice. Hooky, why such a public show of wanting to leave this site?? That puzzles me. Is it more reassurance that you need?? If what goes on here does'nt interest you then just don't visit, or to cancel i'm sure a simple snail-mail to Seb or Nic would have done the trick. If some of the characters here bore you that's a shame, but we do live and breathe in the real world too, the world does NOT revolve around New order. This place is informative, amusing and breaks up the day a treat and I for one will not be leaving for a while yet, so there! :p

P.S. I hope you have'nt enabled e-mail notification, I feel a posting record attempt coming on!

I think HM was stirring up trouble, esp after that bloke had a go at him on that other thread

I have to agree with the limitations, despite their current tour its not exactly like NO are the worlds fastest moving band at the moment is it! We have an extensive yet ultimatly exhaustive back catalogue to discuss, debate but theres no problem with goin off on a tangent every now and again as it keeps it "real" although i must say im not a great fan of "highjacked" threads which tend veer off into waffle and dissuade people not "in the conversation" to post. Still theres plenty of room for everyone so its no big drama :)

I always said that this site would self-destruct...

It would be a sad day if this forum was limited to only discussing NO - No rants & raves from Mr Angry (Gray), None of The Hunt's excellant wordplay, None of the repressed sexual tension between Muffy, Liv, VG et al !!!! How would i get myself through a shit working day ??????

Well, I didn't read 2/3 of this topic but still...

IMHO, this site is where New Order fans meet, not where you go to talk about New Order...

If we were always talking about New Order, we wouldn't write much on this board! I'm seriously glad this is active, we have already considered doing a "general chat" forum, but well, we would hate having to check more than 1 forum (we already have 2 to check since we speak french, but still :))

Now, you wish to go away? Do you really NEED to remove your profile for that? All profiles will be deleted if inactive someday, so why bother?

Nic...damn fine response there...

Huntsman, you may not always speak only of the order, but you almost always bring a hearty laugh to even the most mundane of days...

and this one is for Patrick...

wanker wanker wanker!!!!

there, now I've had my two cents worth...

Why have you changed your name, Jeff? Don't you realize how confusing it is when people start changing their names?

There's an old saying that goes:

If it ain't broke, don't fix it...(southernized)

or

A bird in the bush is worth two in the hands (i think i can help you get through your exams)

or

a crack on the head is what you get for asking

or

til death do us part

or

love will tear us apart

or

love, is a burning flame

or, what the fuck am I talking about?

I think we need a special forum for Allen Jarvis. It could be call Ask Allen or Ask Jarvo and it would look a little like this.

What was it like when New Order played different songs on their tours? Did it give you chills when Sunrise/Elegia started? Do New Order realize the slippery slope (the slope of death) they are trying to walk with these greatest hits concerts and garbage bag remixes? Does Barney know the term Height/Weight proportionate? Do they care about their product or do they just want enough money to retire?

Speaking of questions, do the webmasters know if Neworder have received our questions yet?
