Must confess to major indifference to the Community project from Day 1. Just hasn't captured my interest. Haven't voted on anything or downloaded any of the tracks, just couldn't be arsed with it. The best thing about Community for me, has been the rows that have errupted in threads from time to time. The whole Julio robbing other peoples music thing [or whatever he was alledged to have done] was quality.

But now it's almost done, you look back at what's been achieved and it's pretty fucking amazing really.

Three fellas from different countries who've never met each other organise a whole album of tracks by different bands from all over the shop, who've they've never met either.

One geezer puts down money up front to get the thing moving with no gaurantee he'll get any of it back and then they hand over the whole selection process, right down to the sleeve design to a bunch of people on an internet site who again, they've never met. Ok, I know Mike met Shug, Don & Agent last year but that's it.

All in all, that's *pretty* democratic. In fact, if any profits are being reinvested in another project, its bordering on socialist.

The delay in production is frustrating, I can understand why anyone who bought in the pre-sale is pissed off. That said, I doubt there's anyone more disappointed than Mike who's got the burden of all his paying customers on his conscience and who has been fuct about by the manufacturer for the last month. Sounds like stress-city to me.

When you think the lads have got zero previous experience to call on, it's a top effort. They've been successful through energy, commitment and being brave enough to do it. Soo much easier to find reasons not to do something, especially when failure will be very public, than to have the courage of your convictions and make it happen. For this alone you have my utmost respect and you should feel well proud of yourselves

Still not gonna buy it mind.

i'm starting a label out here with my mate, and i know full well how fucked up disc manufacturers can be. what these three of done so far is fucking awesome. these three have gone balls-out. cheers and beers, fellas! the discs will be here soon enough.

Kudos to Mike actually, he's done a terrific job with the production of the CD...

The delay was not our fault, we evaluated the release date with a BUFFER, go figure.. we would have shipped the CD earlier if we would have it one week ago.

Messy, but we're not Warner. 100% virtual project, it will be a little miracle when it'll be in our hands as nobody met and it's a 100% fan effort to release some quality product!

I've chatted with Mike on and off since the start of this project and I think I have an idea of how much pain/hassle/etc he's been through.

Okay, he's had the support of Alejo, Nic, the bands and a few others, but I have nothing but admiration for him.

I know from experience how hard it is to organise something like this on a NATIONAL level, let alone international.

Paid my money up front, but even if it takes another couple of years, I wouldn't complain (much) just the fact that it has been organised this far - the great bands, the wonderful design, etc. makes me proud of NOOL.

Well done guys :clap: - let's hope the hassles don't continue for too much longer!

effort´s been a lot for the 3 of us. a lot of time consuming. but we didn´t do it for the fame and fortune. we did it because we wanted to. and we did it with our best intentions. and thanks to the help of many we made it come true. that´s all. nothing more and certainly nothing LESS than that. but we know it and we know what we are and did. and we know many people knows that too. so we´re cool (well, not that much ;) ) and we´ll go on.

the CDs will be in your hands as soon as possible. we want you to have them. hey, I want ME to have mine too! :D

But what you forgot to mention JEFF is mine is a PROMO in a DAYGLO ORANGE package so should be OK.It is called FLOATING FOR THE MASSES! :laugh:

G-mac...some of your implications were quite rude...these lads have really done nothing but give of themselves to do this thing, and for you to question their integrity was uncalled for...I don't want to get into a big discussion over this...but obviously, several of the NOOLers felt you were quite out of line...period...

mind you, I'll still share a lager or ale with you if I ever meet up with you...that's just the kind of punter I am!!!:D

Well Mr 41 , the situation is resolved ,to the benefit of all parties , I reserve the right to question anybodys integrity , to the extent that I accept their right to question mine. the fact that anyone thinks I'm out of line does not deter me in the slightest. As an adult , in an adult situation , I asked some adult questions , in one case they were dealt with in an adult manner , both parties were happy with the outcome. Job done , I do wish them well, but the situation was not for me... period. Not too sure about sharing an ale , but I'll buy you one if you're skint :nod:

For anything to have happened at all once the initial idea was floated has been a major achievement, so hats off to the crucial three for all their hard work and dedication in getting the product this far. Personally I don't give a toss about delays, they are part and parcel of just about anything these days, I'm sure it'll be worth it all in the end, and I am proud to have been involved in the processes and to be represented on the records (even if I don't get to hear myself sing).

Having said that, I think I would be a bit happier if certain processes and situations had been better communicated to the participants, or even communicated at all. I don't mean in public and on these boards, via e-mail would have sufficed. Basically everyone (including those represented on the products) is in the dark as to what is going on - there's been no official announcement about delays etc, the supposed launch date came and went without so much as a murmur, a pretty damp squib considering so much talk had happened for so long.

I have to say that since the project started, my net access has been very restricted. I couldn't download track to make my votes and I was the only guy to vote for the sleeve I liked most:\ohwell:

But the other night, I took the chance to listen to the mp3 samples on the site and was VERY impressed.

So much so, that I wouldn't mind coughing up the necessary for a copy and showing my support & appreciation.

Your right, i should have been more communicative with EVERYONE involved. I did send notices to pre order customer about the first delay. Just with dealing my day job and juggling this project, i dealt with what i thought was priority. I know now that keeping people in the loop should have been my to[ priority.

Well today is friday, let see if my shipment comes in...............

Thank you all for your comments, good and bad. This whole project was a learning experience. Definitely satisfied my childhood fantasy to put out a cd.

I must say that I almost teared up when i saw the test copy of community. Looking back at this whole process, I still can't believe we pulled it off.

No hard feelings at all Mike , as I said in the e-mail I do wish you luck , at the end of the day people know where they stand re contracts and shipping , and there has certainly been a lot of good will shown on the two threads , if people didn't agree with my line of questioning then I hope they are satisfied with the answers , I am , and I feel there is more clarity to the whole issue now . exactly my feelings Mr. Giles, and nicely put too. I am astounded at the fact this has comed true after all. I must say I preordered and have not had a worry about the likely outcome, though. After all this is a New Order thing, Expect delays. Anticipation raising.
