If this sounds similar to my 'remix' topic a few weeks ago, that's because it is.

Having heard the Confusion and Thieves instrumentals, I was hoping I could find some more from NO/JD.

Anyone can help?

Heck, just wait until the singing stops and the real music begins as in Your Silent Face, The Perfect Kiss, Lonesome Tonight, Run...

Oh, yeah, Lucky Bag by Electronic. Very good, too.

"Kiss of Death" and "The Beach" are B-side instrumentals similar to the two you mentioned, from the mid 80s. both can easily be found on Substance, so you should like them.

"Murder" is a proto-industrial song from 1984, with sampling, that is hella cool

"Don't Do It" and "Best & Marsh" are pleasant Technique era B-sides instrumentals which are a big change of pace and mood, really cool and kinda rare. "MTO" is another B-side instrumental from "Run2" which is total chicago acid house... don't know how much (if any)New Order actually had to do with those two "MTO" songs, but are cool rarities. also, "Vanishing point" has a kinda pointless instrumental IMO.

"Regret" has some cool laidback chillin' remixes, but are more of the remixers tracks, as well as "Ruined in a Day"... these tracks are not pure New Order there is another instrumental B- side track from the Republic sessions called "Viscious Circle" that sounds like unused snippets strung together for no good reason, kinda useless IMO

lots of remixer instrumentals, most not essential

"Elegia" and "Video586" have real long instumental versions

I'd have to go with "interlude" from Electronic's Raise the Pressure....while its not their best work it certainly is one of (if not THE) shortest songs ever composed....

Why the ? I'm not aware of what you're talking about, no need to act so condescending. Sorry if I seemed condescending; wasn't my intent. Anyway, NO's latest release was a half-hour long soundtrack to the touring Peter Saville exhibition a little while ago. It's an ambient instrumental, and probably the band's longest song (though Video 586 comes close). It's a nice relaxing song that is worth seeking out if you like instrumentals.

I'd also strongly recommend Sputnik, as I think it's one of the band's best instrumentals. Eerie mood music; sounds a bit like something from a film (or at least any film I'd want to make).

I don't know where one can buy them. They are fairly hard to find now, I think.

More difficult to find (does not exist on CD): Dub Vulture, the dub version of Subculture. There are also Shame of the Nation, Bizarre Dub Triangle and Touched by the Hand of Dub. They're all instrumental (or quasi-instrumental) remixes.

Nobody mentionned The Happy One. It's an instrumental piece of music that was cut in small slices used as interludes on the Substance 1989 video. It was never officially released in a single piece.

This being said, their most interesting instrumental efforts are Elegia (try and find the full length version, not that of Low Life), Murder, the Peter Saville show soundtrack, Don't do it and Best & Marsh. The rest is more anecdotic, imho.
