Why don't they play Amsterdam?

Title of the topic says it all, right? They used to play Paradiso a lot. Okay, so they had some bad gigs here also, but since Holland didn't qualify for the World Cup in Japan and Korea this seems like the perfect time they played over here again (and also because Get Ready is a pretty good album, that's an understatement by the way) and play World In Motion as an intro. Damn, one can dream, right?

Wish they would play both Belgium and the Netherlands more often, so I could go and get nicely pished on better beer and get out of this place more often yet still not be too far away that I'd miss the footy on Saturday. Guess you're right, Allen. We Belgians could choose to go and see the Order in Germany, England or France. A bit sad nonetheless.

But, in the same time, I prefer them not to tour too much because, on the long term, I thing it could do harm to band relations...

A very good venue for them in Belgium would be L'Ancienne Belgique. They played there in a very remote past.

Rest assured, I would indicate you the exact way (it's very easy, in fact, as it's on one of the main Brussels boulevards, not a small hidden street).

Now that I think of it, I might have an explanation as to why You couldn't find it. I don't know when it was but, the AB was closed for 2 or 3 years, some time ago, to undergo transformations.

BTW, Allen, I saw your 'flag', at the Olympia, but I was in the balcony... Sorry mate.

Jarvo it was good to see you 'in the flesh' so to speak on a recent piccy posted elsewhere. I always got the impression you were about 7ft. tall and as skinny as a broom... also, as hard as nails. When I saw the pic. I thought you looked very warm and friendly. Just goes to show how the written word can distort a persons real persona... not that I'm saying your not as hard as nails. You looked a bit cuddly, which I thought was great.

How would you compare these recent gigs with gigs of yore?... would you agree that they lost a bit of intensity?... do you believe that they may have lost a bit of edge?

Hunsty, although I did never see them before, apart from videos, it's quite obvious to me.

Since the Republic tour, they've gone down a much more reasonable route.

I think the edge came from the fact you really didn't know what you were gonna get from one night to the other.

Now, you know exactly what you're gonna get.

Now it's just a (great) show without any danger.

Turns out I was only staying about 5 minutes away from L'Ancienne (Novotel Tour Noire), and had been drinking on Bvd Anspach most of the day, oblivious to the location !

No, I said they WERE keen, although the general impression was that perhaps the venue was too small for them now (it's tiny, right?). I've no idea why it didn't go ahead in the end.

It's not really a huge venue, no (I think 1200 people). It's useless to say it would be a guarentee sell-out of course. When bands like Tool, Faithless and Live used to play Paradiso not so long ago it would sell out in 15 minutes. By the way, Depeche Mode is another band who are "not keen" on playing The Netherlands at all.

That's strange. Depeche Mode always play Belgium...

There are more venues in Holland than only Paradiso.

In Cologne many Dutch people were present. So we could easily have filled a venue...... such a shame.....

You are all so right , they should come to Holland more often. But from what i can recall from a past gig in the Paradiso, they didn't realy like the place. They called it a ratshole!!(the legendary 441 bootleg). But this was ages ago and people change, so lets hope they will play here again some time soon!!

Perhaps Vredenburg in Utrecht is a good venue if the Paradiso (1200 people) is too small; it holds around 2,000 people. Another suitable venue would be O13 in Tilburg (bit far for me, close to Belgium though). I think that is also 2000 people.

Haven't been in the Heineken Music Hall yet, so I don't know if it's any good, but it takes 5,000 people.

What's wrong with small venues? Personally i like it very much if they would play smaller venues. Tivoli in Utrecht is very suitable.

Only problem with small venues is that sometimes it is too difficult to get tickets; sometimes in Holland concerts are sold out in an hour (too bloody efficient)...just want to make sure I don't miss ticket sales if I blink my eyes or pay a small fortune :D

I don't think Hooky wants to play the Paradiso anymore after his disasterous appearance with Revenge there in 1990. About fifty people attended this gig. I guess it were his leather trousers that scared of the hordes.

They might sell out the Heineken Music Hall. Been there once, the sound is good and the beer is cheap. I think it even holds more than 5000, like 5500 people. Saw Muse there and will soon be going to both Rammstein and Andre Hazes.

The monaco show in De Melkweg last year was better attended, though half of the audience consisted of British tourists. I guess these facts explain why NO didn't play Amsterdam this year.

I also had some mates with me , so i guess that leaves 80 percent other people ! I thought he looked pretty cool in his leather outfit,.
