Don't know if anybody else has noticed but Peter Hook is one of the 100 panellists who voted for the top 100 Greatest British Albums, in Observer Music Monthly today (June 20) No 1 is the Stone Roses - too right!! -, Closer at 18, Unknown Pleasures at 30, and PCL at 65! I'd like to know Hooky's top 10 - it's not in the mag or on the site though.

it- like all lists - was shite.
the stone roses are a 1989 re-imagining of the kinks. it took me my life between the ages of 13 and 15 to realise that. crap band. make the charlantans look good.
the beatles/smiths were all over it like avid merrion over emma bunton. terrible terrible stuff. nearly put me off the rest of the guardian/observer, but not even a picture of morrisey could do that!
I thought the list was bollocks, whats great meant to stand for, record sales, the way the album shaped music, bands of today that site this album as an influence. On all these topics the Stone Roses would get destroyed by a lot of albums from other bands, Sgt Peppers, Rubber Soul just from the Beatles, Closer in my opinion would be more of an influence, and why the hell is'nt Technique in there, it beats PCL on all fronts, in my opinion anyway!
Where was Low-Life and Technique? And, why one of Hooky's group's albums? Electronic's debut was far superior to anything Revenge or Monaco did.
