Value of New Order Posters

I have noticed recently that promo posters for some N.O/J.D/Electronic releases are selling for a huge amount on e-bay etc.

Out of interest could someone tell me the (true) value of these and which ones in particular are rare (Fine Time Pills, Technique, Substance etc.). Is the the same for all Peter Saville artwork?

I used to have some nice JD/NO posters; a dead old Low-Life one that was brown around the corners, a brilliant Ruined In A Day sleeve poster, two crappy-looking band photo posters of Joy Division & New Order, & a decent print of the Closer sleeve.

Chucked `em all out after I got married & moved from a 1-bedroom flat to a 2-bedroom house. Sticking posters up seems a wee bit adolescent, even if they are of an old farty band like NO. Just to prove how hypocritical (& therefore adolescent) I still am, I recently bought two Simpsons posters for the living room. Well, nowadays I'd rather have Homer glaring at me than Hooky... :D

It seems all NO originals seem to be worth a bit. I paid £8 for my Unkown Pleasures (yes I know its JD) LP with a battered sleeve. Most ablums from 1979 would be worth around 50p.

Yes i agree it is a bit adolescent to stick band posters up but ive still found a great way to have New Order artwork on the wall.I scanned the covers of Thieves Like Us and Murder then cropped both pieces of the numbers around the central pictures and printed them off on photo paper.Great A4 size framed Saville (in a De Chirico style) pictures now adorn my walls.Nobody who didnt know the sleeves would think they were record covers.May do the same with some other Saville art work too.Im sure Mr Saville wont mind about copyright.If he does maybe he should think of publishing more of his artwork for sale.

I had the "Here Are The Young Men", "LWTUA", "Factus 8" and "Lowlife" posters, they are all long gone now, but my girlfriend has an old newOrder poster of Barney with his shirt off.

That's the great thing about ebay. The "true" value of things gets revealed pretty quickly.

I still have a nice big LowLife poster, plus a Perfecting the Technique one (I think it came with NME).

I've been collecting Saville's NO related artwork for a good 15 or so years now and have a tidy little stash. Values seemed to peak late last year co-inciding with the Saville retrospective, also there's been another collector on ebay who's been pushing prices up quite considerably, often putting in silly bids to secure a win, I think in some auctions people have been bidding just to find out really how much he / she is prepared to pay, hence the prices pushing £100. I've posted this before but there's a couple of sellers on there now punting on crap inkjet copies of the album artwork as the real deal, often laminated. Don't bother, they are absolutely rubbish, anyone with a half decent scanner and inkjet could make their own. I think in the long term considering Saville's reputation, any Saville related artwork will probably hold its money and I'd tend to stick more value to a 'Factory' produced / badged artwork to that of something produced by say Qwest.

still got quite a few no/jd/lec posters. problem is mine are framed and no one wants them. tried many times to sell/trade thru nool but again no interest. The best fac ones like substance are long gone but i still have a few .people want them for nothing too! i aint putting them on ebay no way jose! looks they are resigned to living in the top of my wardrobe for a few more years yet!

Back in the deep mists of time i once had a good Thieves poster , absolutely massive Factus 8 and Low Life posters which between the two of them took up one whole wall,LWTUAA and one of a bare chested Bernard with Chinos on (80`slive gig pic).Can imagine that one being of quite an interest to the ladies!!

Theres a poster shop in Afflecks Palace in Manchester,that sells loads of NO/JD stuff including the Pills,Substance & Technique stuff. Most are around the £10 mark,unless you want a subway poster which are (i think) £20-however they are mostly Get Ready era stuff which to be honest doesnt make great poster material!Ok,they might be re-prints,but unless Saville comes your house and draws on the wall himself they all are! If anyone wants Mugs,T-Shirts etc then nip down your local Boots Chemists on the high street,they can do most things there quite cheap-i got a set of mugs with sleeves on-Technique,PCL,True Faith & Run2,all for £20.

What you mean Boots can print whatever design you want onto mugs?.Might have to try that.

I'd be interested too, but I don't think the other half would appreciate it If he is the jealous type he will, but i'm not, at least she and you have good taste.

Other than ebay.com, are there other places where you can buy old new order posters or reproductions?? I would especially like one of those huge, oversized posters.

I remember seeing a "Ruined in a day" poster in a record store with a guy surfing, I think. I never bought it and now I regret it...I totally want one now...even though that is not my favorite song from the republic album.

I would LOVE to have a poster of the Atmosphere album, Temptation, and the 81 EP

I will they could get back to cool album covers again.
