Just saw a promo for this - I think I'm right in saying that theres a few seconds of Blue Monday in the advert, so I guess New Order will be in it. Anyone here remember if it was a public vote competition like the Top 100 videos (where we all voted for True Faith, I hope...)?

New Order should be in there, I mena New Order have done much more music than many better selling acts at the time. The traffic of this site shows just how popular the band still are.
I would like to the Smiths in there too:)
Maybe Morrissey and Barney could be interviwed together.

I did mean Morrissey as I think the pair would be quite amusing. But I admit Barney/Johnny Marr would be a much more likely combination.
Did anybody remember a few years back on those C4 programmes when Barney/Hooky were commentators? I always remember them talking about ABBA, Hooky hated them but Barney seemed to almost like them. It was quite funny to watch them arguing over a swedish pop band!
Saw this on telly just before I set out to work: don't think I actually heard BM but in the montage of album sleeves there was definitely that colour code circle thing from the PC&L era.
Barney and Moz together???
Moz: "Fly away, talentless imp!!! You stole my Johnny and my heart!!!" [Swipes Barney across cheek with silken glove]
Barney: "Fook off, cunthead"
;)

I have a terrible secret to tell, my sister is a big fan of ABBA, and when we were growing up in the country we used to love them. She has a greatest hits of ABBA cd and i borrowed it and copied S.O.S. to my x-box. Please forgive me. ![]()

text culled from press release "The series will allow the public to decide which of these artists will enter the prestigious UK Music Hall of Fame. Five nomination programmes will celebrate each decade from the 50s to the 90s, as the UK public decide who are the greatest international music legends of all time. The series will culminate in a star-studded live event recorded at London’s Hackney Empire - where the five acts, one from each decade, will be inducted into the UK Music Hall of Fame.............. A 36-strong Steering Group, made up of music experts, artists, industry professionals, broadcasters and journalists has chosen a shortlist of 10 artists for each nomination programme."
This 'steering' group is 50% chairmen/CEOs of major labels and 40% the TV production company. But amongst the 10% (3.6 people) is Tony Wilson - so maybe we can expect to see some factory content. No nominations are confirmed in the press release but Joy Division, New Order and Happy Mondays are name checked in the summaries of the respective decades.
The Beatles/Madonna/Bob Marley/Elvis Presley and U2 are listed as 'Founding Members' and the first five to be inducted to the UK Music Hall of Fame. (curiously only 1 UK act) I like the caption that hails them as "The Undisputed Greats"
hmmm... I dispute
One of the researchers from the show has been in touch with me about information to do with the band, although I have to admit, I have a feeling someone is on the wind up. The email came from Granadamedia, which checks out through Google. So I will send some info their way. If it's any of you b'stards sending dodgy emails, I will not be amused.
I'd love to grace the TV screens, but I fear they just want me for my brains;)
Now listen young man (he says in Cloughie voice), the television screen is mine and mine only!
If New Order got "inducted" you think they'd actually turn up for the induction? Would Gillian be there :D

I sent a muted response, didn't give anything away, so if I hear back it's definitely legit, if not my 15 minutes of fame lasted 3 hours sat with Hooky last week:D

I have gotten over that cringe and can ignore the dodgy 70's fashion sense they had and welcome the genius they had in lyrical & musical terms. Ironically, on one remix of Revenge's Pineapple Face CDS, Hooky actually plays and sings part of ABBA's SOS on the fade out!!

Tossers.
As I say - I sent e reply back last week - some bird claiming to be from Granadamedia. Heard fuck all back, so I can only guess it was some kind of elaborate joke. I have kept the email for reference though. The best story I was gonna mention involved a goat a tennis bat and half a ton of high explosives.....they'll never know what they missed![]()
