A promo videos DVD! — Forum Archive

New Order have so far (to my knowledge) released 2 'live' DVD's, the "New York '81 & Reading '98" & "Live in Finsbury Park, 2002" ones. Now, I was wondering if they are planning to release a DVD, featuring all the promo videos? They did release a VHS compilation at the same time that "The Best Of..." came out in '94, but I think it's now time to release a DVD of all the videos. Since '94's VHS compilation, they've released "1963 '95", "Blue Monday '95", "Crystal", "60 Miles An Hour" and "Here To Stay". Also, maybe there's some rarities that they have in the vaults or something that could be stuck on it, such as them performing "Regret" on "Baywatch"! Also, maybe have a 2nd disc featuring some of the side projects videos, such as Electronic & Monaco etc. Does anyone else think this would be a good idea? They could call it:

NEW ORDER: The Videos '81 - '04.

how about licensing all their TV appearances worldwide (belgian TV, spanish TV too) for a DVD compilation. how about a JD DVD or some previously unseen gigs (I know many NO gigs were filmed, if not professionally), what about the manchester apollo gig....the list goes on.

none of the above will ever happen.

A videos compilation is likely shown enough support. I believe Nic had a petition going at some point.

Does that original Blue Monday offering still count as it wasn't on Substance 89 or The Best Of.. videos??

I doubt well ever see a Revenge/Electronic/Other Two DVD. But once the new album is out and theyve released some new singles (surely more than 2 this time?),then we might get a NewOrder DVD compilation in about Nov`06.

Hum, would you believe it if I told you that more people on NOOL have contact with the band than on the other site? :D

It's true indeed, though most people are careful about leaking information.

Unless I'm mistaken, Mike's DVD aren't regionally encoded.. so they play everywhere.

Of course, your DVD player must be able to play PAL, but I think they all do... I might be wrong.

(Time to test his DVD on the new DVD player, I never checked.. my former one was able to read them all, but not DVD-R)

Just to clear some things (?)... There is a difference between being able to read and play PAL DVDs, and being able to output a PAL signal to the TV. It used to be (read: about 2-3 years ago) that virtually all DVD players bought in Europe could play boh PAL and NTSC (output: PAL), but not all players bought in the US could play PAL and NTSC (output: NTSC). This may very well have changed in recent years since most DVD-manufacturers buy their chips from the top-3 chip-manufacturers anyway. Try it with one of the UK/Europe DVD-singles from the Get Ready-era.

(There may also be some problems for NTSC-based players to correctly output enhanced 16x9 PAL format, but I don't think that'd be a problem for a home-made DVD... Besides, most people shouldn't buy the cheapest DVD player anyway :) )

That would be worldinmotion.com , run by a certain David Sultan, who seems to have a good contact with Hooky. David is not universally liked around here , due in part, to his monetary resources which enable him to get just about any New Order item.
